HORROR IS DEAD

Horror Is Dead was formed in the lifeless, grey city of Bartlett, IL in 2006. With harmonized vocals, intricate bass lines, technical drumming, and dramatic guitar riffs, HID brings a new element to the Horror Punk genre. The outspoken, now mastermind behind HID, Johnny Marland has given a new way to look at horror lyrics, and a new chemistry to the music. With original member “Mega” Mark Harrison, and new drummer Brian Leh, HID intends to beat the life back into what is believed as a dead form of punk music…..

It has been said that all rockabilly music sounds the same, but The Hot Rod Hucksters have been playing truly unique music since 2003. The band is comprised of four hard working guys from Chicago who call to mind an unholy amalgamation of Eddie Cochran, Johnny Burnette, The Cramps, and sometimes even the Stray Cats. Neo-Rockabilly, or whatever you want to label it, the music speaks for itself. The band’s loyal fans have seen them play with hard rocking psychobilly bands like Rocket 350 (Atlanta) and Big John Bates and the Voodoo Dollz (Vancouver), and traditional rock-a-billy bands like The Hi-Qs (Detroit), Cave Catt Sammy (Texas), The Riptones (Chicago), Lee rocker (of the Stray Cats), and Robert Gordon And The Gang They Couldn’t Hang (featuring Chris Spedding of Roxy Music, Glen Matlock of the Sex Pistols and Slim Jim Phantom of the Stray Cats) and the Reverend Horton Heat!

In February 2005, the Hot Rod Hucksters released their seven song EP “Four Deuces and 3 Gears,” a title that references their passion for hot rods (all of the boys have at least two). The CD includes four original songs and three covers, and it reflects the band’s diverse influences from blues, classic and alternative country, surf, and of course, rockabilly and psychobilly. Their second disc released late in 2007, “Beer, Songs, and Mediocre Broads” features 12 songs that are sure to have you tapping your feet, spinning a wrench and dancing with your favorite gal.

HOTLIPS MESSIAH

HotLips Messiah is Chicago’s premier mutant rock band. They have been a fixture on the Chicago punk and mutant rock scene for a decade and played legendary venues such as the Lounge Ax and the Fireside Bowl. Large venues like the Congress Theatre, and dinky little holes in the wall like the Big Horse. They have played with bands as obscure as Phil A. Sheo & the Goods and with bands as huge as the Misfits. With classic original bands like the Avengers and the Germs and with modern inspired schizos the Rotten Fruits, the Urinal Mints and the Functional Blackouts. Musically, they are a tornado of noise, filth and ass-shaking melody and catchiness. Lyrically, they use science fiction and sleaze as a blunt metaphor for the INhuman condition mankind finds itself in today.

HURRICANE GUMBO

Hurricane Gumbo is an eight-piece, Chicago-based band that combines zydeco, rhythm & blues, jazz and funk to produce a sound that can only be called one thing – Louisiana party music. With Hurricane Gumbo, the party never stops. That is why, one reviewer calls it “without a doubt, one of the best and liveliest party-bands anywhere”… because with Hurricane Gumbo, it’s All Mardi Gras, All of the time. Leave your underwear at home.

HURRICANE REGGAE BAND

Ranging from solo performances to a quartet to a full orchestra featuring brass and steel pan, prepare to experience a true Caribbean vibe, a total party package with reggae, soca, calypso, a little jazz and blues and a taste of real island culture.

HUSKY BURNETTE

The Blues are a religion and Brian “Husky” Burnette sho nuff preaches it. You can feel the testimony as he blends Mississippi Delta, Rock n Roll and Electric Blues. His music is gritty, soulful, southern, low-down and dirty. Husky, following in the family footsteps of rockabilly kings Johnny Burnette and Dorsey Burnette, has written and toured with several national artists over the years. Two of which that stand out are lead guitar for legendary singer/songwriter Roger Alan Wade and the supporting act on tour for Hank Williams III. He has shared the stage with many others such as Leon Russell, Guy Clark, T-Model Ford, Scott H. Biram, Emmylou Harris and The Legendary Shack Shakers.

I AM GHOST

I CAN HEAR MYSELF LEVITATE

What do you get when a Pulitzer Prize WInner, a Nobel Laureate, a Rhodes Scholar, and a Robot all get together and form a band?
This is a question I Fight Dragons would love to know the answer to, along with other important questions like, “what is purple, really?” and “how much brains could a zombiechuck chuck if a zombiechuck could exist a posteriori?”
In the meanwhile, I Fight Dragons content themselves with playing melodic rock-and-roll type music, which they integrate seamlessly with chiptune. For those of you not in the proverbial ‘know,’ ‘chiptune’ is new music created on ‘obsolete’ video game ‘soundcards’ such as the Nintendo Gameboy. Now you’re in the ‘know.’ Welcome. It’s nice here and the bathrooms are in the back to the left if you need them.
In the biographical sense, all 5 members of I Fight Dragons hail from Chicago. In the spiritual sense, they also hail from Chicago. However, in the metaphorical sense, only 4 of them hail from Chicago, while Packy hails from Outer Space (by way of Chicago).
I Fight Dragons are boldly questing forward on a sonic adventure toward total world domination. If that sounds a little intimidating, then they can scale it back a bit and focus on continental domination, or even just tri-county domination if that’s still a bit much for you.
The new I Fight Dragons album “KABOOM!” has a lot of capital letters, not to mention an exclamation point, which makes it very exhausting to pronounce, but quite invigorating to listen to. It is a Photo Finish / Atlantic Records release (wha!?!?), and serves as the culmination of their earlier sonic endeavors undertaken with their first two EPs, 2009’s “Cool Is Just A Number” and 2010’s “Welcome To The Breakdown.”

I KNOW EVERYTHING.
