Origin of Animal combines elements of classical, rock, jazz and metal to create music that is carefully crafted yet still spontaneous.
Formerly a revolving- door group of musicians, we would book a gig and then fly by the seat of our pants. Since 2010 we have performed with anywhere from five to twenty members; written and recorded original compositions with as many as thirty musicians; and collectively, since forming in 2007, have worked with a total of about 80 people.
The current ensemble fluctuates from as little as eight players to as many as 25 and uses various combinations of brass, woodwinds, strings, percussion, guitars, bass and keyboards. Origin of Animal is also a very versatile interpreter of existing music. We have performed film scores, standard classical works, symphonic music, and have also presented music by Nine Inch Nails, Miles Davis, Pink Floyd, Soundgarden, King Crimson, Gil Evans and Jimi Hendrix.

Otto Von Schirach (half Cuban / half German) was born in 1978 in the swamp infested refugee world of Little Havana Miami. As a child his grandmother practiced Santeria and White Magic, which opened his eyes to the strange and bizarre. Otto grew up listening to Miami Bass, Gore Grind, Gangsta Rap and Afro Cuban Noise. In 1995 Otto bought his first drum machine from a crack-head just 2 blocks from his mom’s house. Right away he recognized his passion for grimy diamond soaked kick drums through distorted fuzz muck. The rest is history.

In 2006, Novembers Doom once again entered the studio to record the follow up to 2005’s “The Pale Haunt Departure.” The philosophy was simple… If it isn’t broken, don’t fix it. Sessions for “The Novella Reservoir” began with Chris Djuricic once again engineering and co-producing, also taking up the recording of the Bass guitar. Mixed by the highly respected Dan Swano, and mastered again by legendary James Murphy, “The Novella Reservoir” was completed, becoming the bands greatest audible onslaught yet. Taking their musical direction to the next logical step in their evolution, Novembers Doom has broken free from their past genre labels, to create a modern dark metal CD influenced heavily by their Chicago 90’s death metal roots. “The Novella Reservoir” is easily the bands most aggressive CD to date, and will, without a doubt concrete them as one of the top bands of their genre.
