Sniper 66 cultivates a brash, hard hitting brand of punk from their home soil in Austin, Texas. Sniper 66 was formed in 2009, by singer/guitarist Dylan Close and bassist Jeff Ellis, later rounded out by guitarist Jeremy Brister and drummer April Schupmann. They play punk, tight and crisp with bullet paced drums. While giving a nod to the forefathers, they also blend in the fury of 90’s punk. For over five years, Sniper 66 has been putting a modern spin on a classic genre of music.
Incendiary, invigorating sounds have been distilled to ensure maximum delivery. You can hear bands like Oxymoron, One Way System, Abrasive Wheels, The Booked, and The Virus weave in and out of these still original sounds. They have shared the stage with Krum Bums, Lower Class Brats, DOA, The Casualties, Sham 69 and Bishops Green, among others.
Rock and roll grit fuels tunes like “Firecracker”, “I Know It’ True” and “All Dressed Up” from their breakout self-titled album. Their second, ‘Caput Lupinum’, features aggressive and thoughtful tracks like “Another War” and “Society”. Mostly, Sniper 66 sets a course straight ahead and finds the fastest way to get there. Charging through most songs in under two minutes, Sniper 66 get to the point and fire up anyone within range.
They blazed a path of new fans after a midwest tour in 2013 where they burned down the stage at Tulsa’s F-You We Rule OK Fest. Their 22 date east coast ‘Warpath Tour’ in May 2014 to support their sophomore album was a success, highlighted by a raucous set at Chicago’s Midwest Live & Loud. They went back out for a week in November of that year with Denver’s Potato Pirates and The Bad Engrish, and OKC’s Violent Affair for the Punks Alive Tour. They are garnering attention in 2015, and will be playing the festival stage at Punk Rock Bowling with such bands as Rancid and Dropkick Murphys, before taking off on a summer west coast tour. This band is showing no signs of slowing down!
