Chicago based country folk and bluegrass band that performs their own original songs mixed with traditional covers.

An emerging Americana duo based in Kansas City, Mikal Shapiro and Chad Brothers deliver classic country and folk music alongside critically acclaimed originals. Strengthened by Shapiro’s lyrical prowess and Brothers world-class flat picking, the couple showcases their craft with simple harmonies, stellar guitar interplay and great chemistry.

Chad Brothers was raised in Winfield, Kansas, home of the International Walnut Valley Bluegrass Festival. There he cut his chops on Pecan Grove stages and in late night picking circles. His approach to the guitar reflects a love for classic melodies, rock and roll, acoustic flat picking and an ear for invention.

Mikal Shapiro is a Kansas City songwriter whose musical influences span popular songs, psych rock, lounge and old time spirituals. A third generation storyteller, she draws inspiration from her travels, love life, and the state of the Union. She has toured extensively across the United States and recorded five albums including three solo albums.

The Kansas City Star, Deli Magazine and Wednesday MidDay Medley declared Mikal’s new album “The Musical” to be one of the top releases of 2015.

What began as a side project for four Chicago pickers from several bluegrass bands, took over as lead dog in 2015 with local festivals, shows and a residency at The General Logan Square.
