sae institute save’s chicago 12.10.14

Earlier this year, the students at SAE Institute Chicago put together a compilation album called SAvE. Not only did the album feature tracks from many local Chicago artists (including Psalm One), it also features artists from some of the other 55 SAE campuses around the world: Barcelona, London, NYC, Nashville and Cape Town South Africa.

The final semester project (amongst many other things) is to create and run a benefit album release show- raising money for the 8 charity organizations featured on the disc: Rescue Warriors Corp, Foundations of Music, Austin Special Art, Greater Chicago Food Depository, Street Level Youth media, Kids Fight Cancer, Donda’s House, Beard Elementary.

“It’s not about grades anymore,” Said Martin Atkins Music Business Department Chair, “it’s about the only metric that matters in the music business – people coming out and filling a venue.”

The show will feature established Chicago artist Alex Wiley, along with: Ethos, Black Ralphy’l, Hugh Lee, Phenom, DemiG, and Madison’s #1 DJ, Moses.

Grammy award winning ATP department chair Ricco Lumpkins and Martin Atkins had the difficult task of choosing just a few additional performers from over 50 entrants at SAE’s open mic nights.

Student run businesses (OBG Clothing, and BME Ent.) have contributed merchandise to sell, and students have been running pop up shops to raise money to cover costs. In addition, there is one time slot that will be auctioned off to an artist who wants to perform and contribute.

The SAvE release show is FREE (with promo code SAE MBP at http://saverelease.bpt.me).
