Scotch Hollow began when Mark Verbeck met Carley Martin while they were both attending Berklee College of Music. The music he made on guitar, slide and ukulele was a perfect match for her full range vocals. Their mutual love for the blues, traditional country and roots music brought them together to form the successful Scotch Hollow. After graduation they toured regionally and played in Nashville for a couple years. When the wind blew them north in 2008, they temporarily switched their name and direction with the funk rock band named Bandit Runner. After a short run, Mark unfortunately came down with a severe case of tendonitis that put the brakes on all musical pursuits for the next 2 years. Determined to not be thrown off course, Mark, using various apps on his Ipad, continued writing music and eventually found himself with a whole catalogue of new music. After he was majority of the way healed, Mark contacted his friend and former band mate Albert Dingnus to start arranging his songs for physical instruments. To their surprise, music seemed to flow out of them like water from a faucet and the beginning of the New Scotch Hollow started to develop. After allot of hard work, practice, and gigs; Mark, Carley, and Albert found themselves with a new band, sound, and a fresh new EP that would show the world who Scotch Hollow exactly was.

Steve Soto is a Southern California punk rocker with a musical backpack that includes the Adolescents, Agent Orange, Manic Hispanic etc …

According to Steve the first “punk record” he ever owned was Johnny Cash live at San Quentin “I loved the way he talked to the guards and the let the prisoners know he was in charge it was amazing … and I always loved the duets he sang with June ”

On his down time from Adolescents tours Steve started doing the solo singer songwriter thing …(which included tours with X and the Squirrel Nut Zippers) but he was always on the look out for a woman to sing duets with ala Johnny and June or Gram and Emmy Lou …

Early this year he ran into Allison June a Los Angeles native, who has big voice, a love for soul and Motown, with a passion for punk rock that got wrapped up in country, folk and bluegrass…. that made total sense to Steve so he had her sing a song with him and it worked but there was a problem Allison was weeks away from moving to Chicago … Not ones to let distance get in the way and armed with the notion that thanks to the internet everyone is your neighbor Steve wrote songs and sent them to Allison she learned them and now they are in the process of making a record … Lots of strumming and sweet harmonies to ensue … You heard it hear first…

Dana has been performing and writing songs since the age of 16, trying to create a feeling of familiarity that can reach anyone anywhere. He feels that honesty is necessity when heartache and happiness walk hand-in-hand. He blends humor and and tragedy to pull the listener into the music as if they were reading a good book.
