Odd Folk are a group of young Midwesterners who strive to make exciting, engaging, and just plain good folk music. Bridging the gap between new and old, (both in the sense of musical influences and their audience) Odd Folk blends styles and instrumentation creating a sound that seems familiar, but is still something you can’t pigeonhole into one genre. Founded by Paul Cherewick in the spring of 2012 while studying music composition at Columbia College Chicago, Madelyn Strutz, Monte Weber and Alex Brettin joined the band soon thereafter.
Since then they have independently released their first EP, Die Young, on cassette and toured the Midwest. They have opened for acts such as Laura Stevenson & The Cans and Frontier Ruckus.
Odd Folk is inspired by their own life experiences, creating relatable music that has a real feeling behind it. Odd Folk is currently working on their second release and is planning summer tour 2013
