In December of 2011, David Prusina decided that it was time to sing some songs. Some original, acoustic songs. He needed help, & luckily he didn’t need to look far to get it. Upright bass was a must, so mad scientist & local legend, Henry Heine, was brought in to do the job. The duo was pleased, but it wasn’t long before they were on the hunt for someone who could deliver some ‘Jedi-level’ harmonies. Enter Saint John The Bastard (Jonathan Monti). The final move was slinging a mandolin over Monti’s shoulder and the trio was off & running. David Prusina & The Cryin’ Side of Town was born.
The band draws from the Country, Folk, Americana & Bluegrass traditions but slivers of punk-rock can also be found. The ‘Do It Yourself’ mentality is strong with this group. They deliver sad songs sung with a smile & it doesn’t take long to see that they have fun with it…..way too much fun.
