The Jazz Institute of Chicago’s 30th Annual Jazz Club Tour rolls out Wednesday August 27, 2014

The JAZZ CLUB TOUR kicks off the Chicago Jazz Festival festivities by giving visitors and hometown folks an opportunity to sample a wide range of music and venues before the free festival feast to come.

Jazz Club Tour participants buy a promotional button that gives access to all participating clubs as well as trolley transportation between clubs.

The Music at Reggies is free, but you must have a badge to ride the trolley to the other clubs on the tour. Purchase a badge here

THE JEFF GIBBS QUARTET

Jeff Gibbs is a chameleon to all types of music. Playing everything from jazz, gospel, pop, hip-hop ,funk, and r&b. A fresh unbiased approach to music has allowed Jeff to create a new experience for the listener.   “Music is the 6th sense without it we wouldn’t have any other feelings… Without sound we would be numb… We would be emotionless.”   The Jeff Gibbs Quartet consists of Jeff Gibbs, Cleo Bryrd – keyboard, Dj Abernathy – drums, and James Carter – bass

The legend lives on from the Chippewa on down of the band that loves fusion and loud jazz. Gitchagumi plays jazz of every era, from the early days of be-bop, to post bop, to latin, to soul and funk, to more contemporary artists. If you like jazz at all, this band has something for you. Featuring alumni of such Chicago bands as Family Lifted, The East Village Project, Pala, Fat Time, Starcandy, P-1, Smittyvision, The F-Word, and the Powers that Be, Gitchagumi is a tree with many branches and deep roots.

TIM SEISSER QUINTET

Tim Seisser is one of Chicago’s premier bassists and band leaders. His group “TS5” is a contemporary jazz group that mixes feel good grooves with improvisation and high level musicianship. They have performed at the taste of Chicago, martyrs, the green mill, and many other great Chicago area venues. Joining Tim are his usual lineup of Jonathan marks on drums, Matt Nelson on keys, rich Moore on tenor sax and Luke Malewicz on trombone.
