OF WOLVES
Of Wolves are masters of overt catharsis. On Balance, their long-awaited sophomore full length, this caustic crew delivers a devastatingly intense blend of crusty punk, sludge, post-hardcore, gritty stoner doom, and enough noise rock experimentation to keep the listener perpetually on their toes. Their raw approach demonstrates an omnivorous application of genre, and every sound contained herein is employed as a vehicle for release. Nominally for fans of Melvins, High on Fire, Unsane, 16, and Gojira, Balance will, frankly, sit quite well with any fan of extreme music who needs a soundtrack to facilitate the release of their pent-up frustration and rage.
Equal parts Detroit & Chicago, JaGoFF is the musical intersection of wherever waste dumps & abandoned factories meet the $5 lap dance and HAM radio. It is lo-fi. subversive, sweet soul polluted by lost weekends of sweaty booty, downtempo breakbeats and massive bass. Perversely honest, strangely beautiful and badass funky.
This powerhouse trio’s influences are good music, real life experiences, politics and people. Musically their influences range from Jimmi Hendrix and Social Distortion, to Incubus and Primus. They would call themselves an experimental rock band with a gritty reggae edge, but their balanced blend of aggressive guitar, explosive drums, and clean rhythmic bass come together beautifully to create something that can’t be classified. When you listen to Trigger Fish’s unique combination of dark lyrics, soulful melodies, and radical yet emotional transitions, you really get to go along for the ride – it’s an all around sensory experience.
The New Old Cavalry is a young, energetic, and dynamic bluegrass group that has tore out of Bloomington, IN reaching as far as the west coast in only a few short years. While maintaining the format of a traditional string band, NOC sends astral bodies of loose psychedelia and jazz inspired improvisation crashing like an asteroid into the mountains of Appalachian harmonies and traditional bluegrass. Armed with a monstrous and diverse collection of original music, The New Old Cavalry has positioned itself as a late-night fan-favorite at festivals of all varieties, such as SummerCamp Music Festival, Tall Tree Lakes, and much more. In 2012 NOC will release its first feature album Carry Me Out This Way produced in San Francisco by Nat Keefe of Hot Buttered Rum. Onwards and Upwards, The New Old Cavalry
