“The Hang Union is a counter-cultural industrial folk rock band from Chicago, Illinois created by multi-instrumentalist and vocalist Carter Grant. He’s been writing and recording all the instruments for hundreds of his songs since as early as 2005.

For The Hang Union live shows, CG has most frequently played upright bass and sang, occasionally moving to guitar and other miscellaneous instruments, with Mike “Stonewall” Sebo on banjo, Hub on guitar and bells, S.M. Browning on shakers, tambourine and cacophonous noise, and Jon Tuminaro on drums.. Often included are broken and nearly inoperable instruments like saxophone, cornet and accordion. The Hang Union includes a revolving door of satellite members providing various accompaniment.

The several albums available on streaming services (bandcamp, youtube) are just a small presentation of what Carter and the Hang Union have created, and no two albums sound the same.”

Dan Whitaker & The Shinebenders are a modern day honky-tonk band from Chicago, IL. They have been entertaining audiences since 2003 with countless performances in Chicago and the Mid West and two full length albums to date.

The Shinebenders, the band that makes the magic flow, includes Earl Powers on bass and occasional vocals, Belden “Trip” Kimball on acoustic guitar and vocals, Chase Jackson on drums and Gabriel Stutz on pedal steel.

Dan Whitaker is a long time Chicago based singer, song writer,and guitarist. Whitaker’s past associations go back to the late 1980’s with DeKalb IL. punk-funk-rockers June Bug Massacre, 1990’s with the Americana/blues/rock band Great Plains Gypsies, and most recently Chicago jam-rockers The Gyps. He currently also plays in Western Grand, a Chicago Americana/rock band featuring Jay Harris.
