First Fragment

FIRST FRAGMENT

First Fragment was founded in 2007 by Phil Tougas (Chthe’ilist, Atramentus, Funebrarum) & brothers Gabriel Brault-Pilon and David AB. From day one, the trio sought to create a brand of extreme technical death metal that combined counterpoint-based riffing, neoclassical lead guitar work, power metal-inspired passages as well as flamenco & swing sections in a desire to branch out and establish their own unique voice in the Quebec scene.

Their critically-acclaimed 2016 debut album “Dasein” released through Unique Leader built upon the foundation established with the band’s notorious EP “The Afterthought Ecstasy”, self-released in 2010. Dasein was the culmination of almost 10 years of hard work and dedication to their craft. First Fragment have since honed their craft and perfected their sound through expanding upon their extensive musical influences, further blurring the line between flamenco-inspired technical death metal and neoclassical power metal.

The result is “Gloire Éternelle” – an ambitious conceptual album that is unmistakably First Fragment, yet at the same time, impossible to categorize and pigeonhole. Boasting baroque-influenced guitar counterpoint, flamenco sections, unique slap-bass-driven swing grooves (which the band trademarked by name as “swingdowns”), dual vocals, face-ripping lead guitar work and bombastic drumming, the end result can be described as an ultimate shred-fest filled to the brim with passion, conviction and memorability.

Lunar Ticks

LUNAR TICKS

The debut, double EP, recorded with friends in our basement, features plenty of inventive segues, special guests, and tones ranging from cheery folk sing along, to frightening dissonant chaos. These two parts separately showcase our two loves; songs and improvisation.

Part one weaves in and out of richly textured, alt-pop, noise, folk, rock, and country songs. These quasi-satirical takes on popular music form and content are just slightly tweaked with oddball arrangements, subtle psychedelia, and a voice that can be both sarcastic, and sincere. Witty words shine through sing-able melodies, all wrapped up in warm, playful vocal harmonies. The tight live band feel gives these songs urgency and a life of their own.

Part two takes you through an improvisation that blurs the line between performance and studio manipulation. The conversational interplay moves from blissed-out, beautiful melodic segments, to otherworldly realms, to frenetic funk fusion, to uplifting rock and roll. This sprawling twenty-minute jam takes you on a trek, much like the song side, but without any words or breaks to act as a guide. With the lights off and a good pair of headphones, you might find your mind wandering to places it’s never been.

theSHIFT

Individually, the members of theSHIFT are highly sought-after musicians who’ve recorded and toured the world with music royalty. Together, John Shannon (vocals/guitar), MJ Lambert (drums) and Ben Geis (bass) craft earth-shattering, anthemic rock with vibrant depth and a forceful punch. The powerhouse trio’s defiant sound is perfectly captured on its debut 7th Direction, to be released on April 14.theSHIFT’s multi-layered riffs and heavy driven groove are in full effect with “Kobra”, the first single off of 7th Direction. The song received its world premiere with Loudwire.7th Direction was recorded at Brooklyn’s Mission Sound and Manhattan’s JRock Studios and co-produced by Jamie Siegal (Taking Back Sunday, Mary J. Blidge, Santana). Referencing the Native American concept of directions, the track title further reflects a deeper meaning behind theSHIFT’s approach to music. “theSHIFT is about altering your consciousness through the sheer power of rock n’ roll,” declares Shannon. “Our lyrics don’t question the government, they question the nature of your reality.”
Having each attended the famed Berklee College of Music, theSHIFT comes from a wide-ranging music spectrum. Shannon has recorded and toured with top-national acts like John Mayer, Lauren Hill and Ben Harper, and also composed music for comedian Louis CK’s live specials and hit FX series, Louie. Lambert and Geis’ musical roots lie deep in the world of hip hop, having backed legends Big Daddy Kane and Slick Rick.

After a year and a half of non-stop touring and gathering die hard fans across the United States, theSHIFT’s song “Dreams” was mysteriously added to a mainstream rock radio station in Lima, Peru where the song went to #1 and soon became #5 of the year 2015 amongst Coldplay and Florence and the Machine. theSHIFT were the only independent band on the top 150 list. Shortly after this they were then noticed on YouTube by the legendary songwriter/producer and co-creator of the Woodstock Festival, Artie Kornfeld, who has taken them into the studio to begin work on their next album.

theSHIFT is constantly on the road, bringing its vivacious rock n’ roll spirit to life onstage.

APOSTLE OF SOLITUDE

True American Doom Metal, the APOSTLE OF SOLITUDE story begins in Indianapolis, in 2004, when guitarist-vocalist Chuck Brown (ex-The Gates of Slumber) paired up with drummer Corey Webb to explore the beautiful cold depths of sorrow and ruin. After numerous demos, split releases, two full length LPs: 2008’s ‘Sincerest Misery’ (via Eyes Like Snow) and 2010’s ‘Last Sunrise’ (via Profound Lore), lineup changes, several extended US tours, as well as numerous US Doom Festivals, APOSTLE OF SOLITUDE recorded their epic third album ‘Of Woe and Wounds’ for Italy’s Cruz Del Sur Music in 2014.

Following the release of “Of Woe and Wounds”, a string of official videos, including videos for “This Mania”, “Lamentations of a Broken Man”, “Push Mortal Coil”, and “Luna” were released in support of the album. The band embarked on a 10 date Northeast US Tour in May 2015, followed by a jaw dropping performance at the inaugural Maryland Doom Fest that June, followed by an additional 10 date Southwest US Tour in September.

Currently APOSTLE OF SOLITUDE are working on material for their fourth full length and are confirmed for the Hammer of Doom festival (Germany) and Doom Over Vienna (Austria) in November 2016, with further European dates to be announced.

BEELZEFUZZ

Beelzefuzz is a heavy rock band from North East MD formed in 2009. Releasing a 4 song demo in 2010 they established a loyal fan base in the DE, MD, PA area that eventually led to signing with Germany’s very prestigious Church Within records in 2012. Beelzefuzz incorporates a very unique style of heavy music similar to the classic sounds of early 70’s bands such as Uriah Heep, Deep Purple and Black sabbath as well as contemporary acts Pentagram, Graveyard and Earthride. Still Beelzefuzz remain decidely independent with their own personal brand of melodic heavy rock and the David Byron, John Lawton crossed with Mark Farner vocal stylings of singer and guitarist Dana Ortt shine through beautifully in songs such as “Lotus Jam”, “All the Feeling Returns”, “Reborn” and the haunting “Hypnotize”. Joined by drummer Darin McCloskey (Pale Divine) in 2011, Beelzefuzz entered the studio again to record a new four song demo. Sparking quite a bit of label interest they secured the deal with The Church Within records and released their first self titled album via the label in 2013. The current and active lineup of Beelzefuzz is Dana Ortt (vocals/guitar), Darin McCloskey (drums), Greg Diener (lead guitar/vocals), Bert Hall (bass). A new album entitled “II The Righteous Bloom” is set to be released from The Church Within records for spring of 2016.

SHEAVY

Sheavy formed in St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada in 1993, and originally performed under the name Green Machine. In 1994, the band discovered there was another band in the United States with the same name, so a decision was made to rename the band Sheavy. The band’s repertoire originally consisted of a sampling of Kyuss covers and an assortment of originals that would eventually make their way onto the Reproduction E.P., Slaves To Fashion, and ultimately Blue Sky Mind. A three-song 7″ vinyl record was recorded in early 1995 at Jolly Roger Studios in St. John’s. The band regularly performed in and around St. John’s for the first few years at small clubs and venues such as The Loft, Sam Shades; Junctions and the LSPU Hall.

The band recorded and mixed their debut album Blue Sky Mind over a single weekend during the summer of 1995. Later that summer, the band’s bass player Paul Gruchy amicably left the band to focus on completing his university studies. There were about 1000 copies of the album released early in 1996, at which time Keith Foley also stepped in to complete the Sheavy line-up as the band’s bassist. Although the audio quality of Blue Sky Mind was low, the original master tapes later revealed a much-higher audio quality existed. On the strength and popularity of the recording, however, Rise Above Records in the U.K. signed the band to a three-album deal. The band now had more resources available and were better prepared for work on the second studio album.

The Electric Sleep was recorded in St. John’s in the summer of 1997. Recording Engineer Don Ellis helped the band capture the simple, powerful sound they’d been searching for. The result was an album one British reviewer deemed “the best Black Sabbath album in 25 years.” Black Sabbath comparisons were nothing new for the band, but for every review filled with praise another came along that maintained they were little more than clones. The album’s doomy title track could even be found on the web described as a lost Sabbath track. After a short tour of the U.K. and an invitation to play the Dynamo Open Air Festival in The Netherlands, the band headed back to the studio.

Recorded in the summer of 1999, in the workshop of Ren Squires’ parents home, Celestial Hi-Fi, showcased the diversity of the Sheavy sound. The delicate nuances of “Persona” gave way to the doom of “Tales From The Afterburner,” while tracks like “What’s Up Mr. Zero” and “Strange Gods Strange Altars” illustrated the bands ability to throw hooks into the mix. Reviews of the album were generally positive.

In October 2001, the band converged on Keith’s new home in Edmonton, Alberta to write and rehearse for what would become the Synchronized sessions. Recorded in November 2001, with former Black Sabbath Producer/Engineer Mike Butcher at the helm, Synchronized once again saw the band diversify its sound with the addition of synthesizer, piano and drum loops. Despite, and perhaps because of the addition of Butcher, the album has been described as the bands least Sabbath-like release and nothing less than a sincere tribute to ’70s rock. Written largely in the studio due to time constraints, the albums rock-solid production showcased a raw power unseen on the Sheavy’s previous releases.

In September 2004, the band reunited in St. John’s to begin writing songs for a new album. Due to a number of outside obligations, consummate band leader and drummer Ren Squires stepped quietly out of the spotlight. Kevin Dominic, a long-time friend of the band, was brought in to keep the rock n’ roll machine running. By November the band emerged with 11 new tracks. Over the next month, with the help of friend and Producer Rick Hollett, the band tracked Republic? above a Duckworth Street club called The Republic. Billy Anderson mixed Republic? in San Francisco, California, and the album was released on Rise Above Records in 2005.

In 2006, the band travelled to Europe for a two-week tour, which included a number of countries and festivals.

On March 3, 2007, Sheavy filmed a special live performance at the Holy Heart of Mary High School auditorium in their hometown of St. John’s. This performance was released on DVD with the band’s album “The Machine That Won the War” in 2007. This album saw Sheavy take a much simpler approach than with the few previous albums. They made the choice not to record digitally, and also to maintain their own creative control, with singer Steve Hennessey acting as producer. As well, the booklet with the CD notably features panels of artwork by numerous Newfoundland artists connected to the band, including two panels by Sheavy’s original bassist. Each panel is directly inspired by, and corresponding to, each of the tracks on the album.

Following that release, both Tommy Boland and Kevin Dominic amicably parted ways with the band. Evan Chaulker, who had previously toured with Sheavy, was brought in on guitar, and Jason Williams joined the band on drums.

In April 2009, original guitarist Dan Moore resigned from the band and announced his decision to the band’s Facebook fan group – both via email. The band enlisted guitarist Chris White on guitar and premiered the new guitarist and new material at local St. John’s venue distortion in October 2009. Recording began on a forthcoming album, Disfigurine, roughly around the same period. Prior to its completion, though, the band took up the RPM challenge, which invites musicians to record a whole album of music, 10 songs or 35 minutes. The end result was released late May 2010, entitled ‘The Golden Age of Daredevils.’ ‘Disfigurine’ was released in late August 2010.

Though they continue to write, Sheavy have been otherwise inactive throughout 2011 and 2012, as Steve struggles with vocal problems and members depart. Both bassist Keith Foley and guitarist Chris White parted ways with the band in the spring of 2012.

Mountain toured and recorded on and off until 2010. In the late 70s Corky released his solo album “Making it on the Streets” that is often cited as an overlooked pioneer of AOR. In the early eighties Corky recorded with an indie band called the Mix and at the end of 1990s he got together with Noel Redding (Jimi Hendrix’s Experience) and Eric Schenkman (Spin Doctors) to form the band Cork. In the 90s Corky worked for several years as the vice president, A&R, of Polygram Records, Canada. During that time he produced bands like Men Without Hats and Bootsauce. Last In Line

LAST IN LINE

What started as a casual reunion jam in a Los Angeles rehearsal room in 2011 has grown into a fully-fledged project that has taken on a life of its own. Last In Line, the band, takes its name from the second Dio album released in 1984. Vinny Appice, Jimmy Bain and Vivian Campbell were Ronnie Dio’s co-conspirators and co-writers on the “Holy Diver”, “Last In Line” and “Sacred Heart” albums – these records have gone on to become part of rock history.

During that first jam it was apparent that the chemistry of the original band was very much intact – even after a 27 year hiatus. The excitement generated by that rediscovery led to a second session, where this time they called in acclaimed vocalist Andrew Freeman. Hearing Andrew’s interpretations of the original Dio songs was a revelation and the inspiration to move forward as a band.

Over the ensuing years a handful of local LA shows led to a handful of overseas shows in the U.K. and Japan, and eventually to an offer from Frontiers to record a new album of original material.

During the course of 2014 the band wrote and recorded 12 new songs and chose longtime friend Jeff Pilson as producer. Jeff very much captured the organic crunch of the band and the very best in Andrew’s voice and delivery.
Last In Line’s debut album, “Heavy Crown” was released in February 2016, with the singles “Devil In Me” and “Starmaker” leading the charge. But the release was preceded by tragedy, when Jimmy Bain passed away at the age of 68 on January 23rd, another great musician taken from us far too soon.
Jimmy was immensely proud of the new album and his input to “Heavy Crown” was immeasurable. “We will continue to celebrate his life through his music.. Rest in peace, dear friend.”..Viv

Earlier this year Last In Line played a handful of shows, including headlining both the frontiers Rock Festival in Milan and the Metal Stage at the Rocklahoma Festival, bringing in renowned bassist Phil Soussan and keyboardist Erik Norlander. The gigs featured tracks from “Heavy Crown” alongside songs from those classic Dio albums.

With “Heavy Crown” finally being released on gatefold vinyl on August 26th, Last In Line will take that line up out on a full European tour in November 2016 appearing as special guests to Saxon on selected European dates and headlining a raft of venues across the UK.

Witchcross

WITCHCROSS

Witchcross are a long running classic doom metal band from the Chicago area that have been putting on infamously macabre Horror Doom Metal shows for two decades, and whom lead singer Count William Jannusch, also known from another horror metal band, Ravensthorn, originated from and once again is focused more than ever on. Currently Witchcross have released the very Horror and Occult based “Crypt of the Undead” album(2015), but their history is very fascinating.

Nocturnal Doom was a band formed by lead vocalist/song writer Count William Jannusch in 1987, at the age of fifteen. The line-up changed several times before lead guitarist Dereck Anderson joined and the band recorded the “Shades Of Despair” album in 1991 with Dan Lamb-drums, and Gary Oakley-bass. After gigging all over Chicago and Indiana, playing all age metal clubs and roller rinks, the band developed a strong following. Soon problems with the line-up began again, and Dereck and Bill decided to hire a new drummer and bassist.

Soon after, the band recruited drummer Gary Pedersoli and bassist Roger Massey in the Summer of 1992, and the band changed their name to Witchcross. By the end of the year, they had a whole albums’ worth of original material and were also playing a catalogue of Ozzy era Black Sabbath classics live too.

In 1993, Witchcross recorded their debut self titled album in a local college recording studio and heavily released it on professionally printed cassettes and later cds. Then heavy live concert gigging began again.

Over the years the band continued to do shows all over the Chicago,IL. and Indiana area. Band members also split into other band projects over the years, while still regrouping to perform with Witchcross. Count William Jannusch did Ravensthorn(who went on to release three albums..”House Of The Damned”(2002-now currently re-released as a remastered edition cd-2015), “Hauntings And Possessions”(2004-followed by a four day stay overseas for a two date festival concert performance in Germany in 2005), and “Horrors Of The Black Mass”(2012) ) and also in the years before that, Shadowlord(playing and recording regularly throughout the middle nineteen nineties, releasing a full album self titled cd in 2000). Dereck did The Devil Inside and they released a very bluesy cd album. Witchcross always reunited and performed more concerts, as well as writing a myriad of new original material, and performing as a Black Sabbath tribute band at many other shows.

By 2008, Witchcross decided to record another album that would be entitled “Innocence And Evil”, and released it professionally on cd, self financed, and distributed through underground distros and local record stores. Many more live concert performances continued on a regular basis, though also once again the band began focusing more on other band projects and kinda slowed down, Count William once again drifted further into Ravensthorn, with the band playing out a lot more and becoming immersed in the band’s “Horrors Of The Black Mass” album project and promotional live concert shows that went on for a few years at several studios before being released in 2012, though during this time Witchcross was still playing out live on a regular basis between Ravensthorn(heavy metal band) shows…

When Witchcross began the recording for 2014’s “Crypt Of the Undead” album at Chicago’s The Dead Room Studios with engineer producers Joe Duhr and Chad Elliott, and final mastering done by Sasch Machyne (of Mighty Monster Records-Germany). They wanted to properly capture the band’s live sound, and they finally did. For once the band was 100% focused and also captured in a recording properly, and wickedly in the right way..

Currently, in 2015, Witchcross has released a very heavy and Occult based third album of wickedly produced Horror Doom Metal Musick, working together stronger than ever, a 13 song album, called “Crypt Of The Undead” on Germany’s Metalizer/Battle Cry Records, and also performing many new concert shows all over the place. Another very heavy new Witchcross record will be in the works at the end of 2015 too!!!

Tyce

TYCE

Every so often a new artist comes along with a debut album that not only raises eyebrows, but curiosity in that the songs are so perfectly matched with the talent. In TYCE’s case, with the release of his debut Broadway Records album, HERO (March 10), his voice is perfectly in sync with the celebratory music and lyrics of noted-Meat Loaf-collaborator Jim Steinman.

No ordinary talent would ever dare to record such treasured songs as “Holding Out For A Hero,” “Total Eclipse Of The Heart,” “I’m Gonna’ Love Her For Both Of Us,” and “Braver Than We Are,” without the imprimatur of wordsmith Steinman, who was catapulted to international fame and renown with the debut album from Meat Loaf, Bat Out Of Hell.

Tyce is the first male vocalist to have recorded with Steinman since Meat Loaf. Adds Tyce, “I also fit Jim’s original vision of a young blond, honorable, noble-boy that he first had in mind when he wrote Bat Out Of Hell.”

Bravely produced and boldly re-imagined by Zak Lloyd (with Tony Heyes as executive producer and Nicky James as producer), with Steinman’s blessing, the album features nine Steinman-tracks, plus seven bonus tracks. Don’t be fooled, these tunes perfectly balance Steinman’s original vigor with a twist of modern.

Tyce first met Jim Steinman after honoring him at a special concert in New York City. A surprise performance followed, with Tyce receiving a standing ovation after singing “Bat Out of Hell” in its 9-minute 51-second entirety in the original key: the first time the song was ever officially performed live since the Meat Loaf rendition. From there, it was kismet and a new interpreter of Steinman was born and reborn, for Jim.
Steinman called Tyce’s performance “brilliantly virtuosic!!” and terms Tyce’s performance on the album: “It was like you wrestled with a fire-breathing dragon and came out on top!!!”

Theocracy

THEOCRACY

Theocracy are finally back with their new album “Ghost Ship”, featuring 10 powerful new songs that showcase the epic, heavy and melodic sound the band is known for, Ghost Ship is the followup to 2011’s As the World Bleeds and 2013’s self-titled debut remix.

With Ghost Ship, Theocracy perfects the lively and fully-realized sound of As the World Bleeds, delivering 10 muscular and streamlined tracks that never lose focus and combine for one memorable journey. Each song on Ghost Ship stands alone and has a unique signature, but every moment sounds unmistakably like Theocracy.

Theocracy started life as a one-man project by Matt Smith in Athens, Ga., though their style has more in common with their European contemporaries than with most of their U.S. counterparts. Characterized by huge choruses, epic arrangements and progressive elements, Theocracy’s music is both immediate and deep, managing to be instantly catchy and memorable, yet revealing new levels of intricacy and depth with each subsequent listen.

The self-titled Theocracy debut album was released at the end of 2003 on MetalAges Records to fantastic reviews and worldwide acclaim within the metal community. After its release, the band began playing shows (including the prestigious ProgPower USA showcase) and started working on new material. After years of hard work, Theocracy signed with Ulterium Records and released their second album Mirror of Souls in 2008.

Mirror of Souls was a huge breakthrough for Theocracy, and received fantastic reviews from press around the world. The album was released in Europe, North America and Japan, and in addition to U.S. shows opening for bands like Sonata Arctica, Blind Guardian and Circle to Circle, Theocracy also embarked upon their first European headlining tour in the fall of 2009.

In 2011, Theocracy released their third magnum opus, entitled As the World Bleeds, which hit the Billboard Heatseeker Chart at #40 in the U.S. and received a fantastic response all around the world. In the fall of 2011, Theocracy returned to Europe for a second headlining tour, followed by more shows in the U.S., a festival appearance in Finland, and the band’s first show in Costa Rica.

By 2013, the self-titled debut album from Theocracy had been out of print for several years, and fans were constantly asking for a re-issue. In order to improve upon the drum machine and amateur production of the original release without losing the charm of the recordings, Theocracy drummer Shawn Benson recorded drums on all tracks, while nothing else was re-recorded. Matt completely re-mixed the album, with the mastering handled by Mika Jussila, and the debut was re-released on Ulterium Records.

Now Theocracy is back with Ghost Ship. The album was produced and engineered by Smith at his studio in Athens, and at a farmhouse that the band converted into a recording space. “We’ve been so inspired and moved by the people we’ve met on the road after shows over the last few years, and many of their stories will stick with us forever,” says Smith. “This was on my mind when creating this album, and I hope these songs will be a real encouragement for the struggling, the broken, and the misfits looking for a place to belong. I think that thread of hope runs throughout this record.”

Chris Duarte

CHRIS DUARTE

To classify Chris Duarte simply as a Blues Man is an understatement. In his own words, “rockin’ blues” or ”punk blues” describes him best. “Ferocious blues” also fits. Legend has it that Chris will play so hard that his fingers bleed in a set. The legend is true. Photos attest.

Chris Duarte is a road warrior playing more than 150 dates a year. As well, Chris has headlined major festivals and clubs throughout the US, Canada and Europe.

Chris is a savant, a sorcerer of tone, a master at channeling the spirits and sounds of great musicians of our past, while remaining completely recognizable in his own sound. He has shared his stage with many of the greatest musicians of our time as well as the multitude of “young lions” and local musicians he meets on the road. From his many years as a side man in Austin, he easily changes roles from front to side, graciously allowing all to share the conversation of the jam.

Chris Duarte’s music is ever changing. In many interviews, he has said “Music must evolve.” His own early offerings often become magical journeys into changing tempo and jazzy interludes before returning to their core. With such a vast catalog of recordings, there are no two shows alike. Every set list is different, and each song may be offered distinctly, based on the feel of a show and the audience. For those reasons, loyal fans often return to a Chris Duarte show again and again, and always walk away awed and satisfied to have witnessed such a legendary, but humble guitarist.

The Chris Duarte Group emerged on the scene out of Austin, Texas in the early 90’s and gained notoriety after wowing a packed room of industry insiders at the South X Southwest convention. In the wake of Stevie Ray Vaughan’s passing, Duarte quickly gained a National reputation as young man imbued with a playing style comparable at times to the late guitarist. After fielding interest from a number of labels, Duarte signed to Silvertone Records and his debut album “Texas Sugar/Strat Magik” reportedly sold in excess of 100,000 units in the United States, no small feat for a blues/rock guitarist. This coupled with Duarte’s strong commitment to touring, was the impetus for Chris’ winning the “Best New Talent” in Guitar Player’s 1995 Reader’s Poll. He also finished fourth in the magazine’s “Best Blues Guitarist” category that year behind legends Eric Clapton, Buddy Guy and B.B. King.

SUNLESS

Formed in 2015, SUNLESS draws influence from pioneers of extreme and dissonant metal such as Gorguts, Ulcerate, and Meshuggah, reinterpreting the sounds through an abstract lens that is all their own. Comprised of bassist Mitch Schooler (Nerves, Modulus), drummer Taylor Hamel (Aziza), and guitarist/vocalist Lucas Scott (Obsolete, Australis, Pestifere), the band features a prominent rhythm section, a scattered assortment of time signatures, interwoven and complex arrangements, and bellowing death growls, akin to the output of Artificial Brain, Baring Teeth, and Pyrrhon.

SUNLESS has toured and performed across the United States and Canada in support of their debut full-length album Urraca with bands such as Gigan, Suffering Hour, and Plebeian Grandstand. Tracked by Adam Tucker at Signaturetone Recording (The Crinn, Ambassador Gun, Maeth) in their hometown of Minneapolis, Minnesota and mixed/mastered by Colin Marston at Menegroth, The Thousand Caves in Queens, New York, Urraca delivers a relentlessly engaging onslaught of complex and dissonant death metal with nine tracks encompassing a dense forty-four minutes. The album is presented appropriately in a psychedelic and abstract visual manner with artwork by former band member Andrew Notsch (Youwretch) aka Hollow Dusk and logo by Stephen Wilson aka Unknown Relic.

The Bottom Dollars

THE BOTTOM DOLLARS

“The Bottom Dollars channel The Clash’s energy with an Americana twist.” – Popdose

“It’s having a flask tucked, at all times, inside the pocket of any coat that’s ever been worn. It’s keeping that flask healthily full with something that coats.” – Sean Moeller, Daytrotter

Yeah, that’s pretty close…The Bottom Dollars formed in the basement studios of Cameo Gallery in Brooklyn, NY in the spring of 2010 as a “punk soul project” by co-founders Brian “Cherch” Cherchiglia (vocals, guitar) and Evan “Buffalo” Berg (drums).

After bursting onto the scene with their breakthrough EP, “The Halcyon Days” in 2011, The Bottom Dollars made it their mission to become one of the most captivating bands in American rock and roll; winning over audiences and gaining accolades in NPR: All Things Considered, Daytrotter, Village Voice, Relix Magazine. No matter the publication, they were all in unanimous consent of The Bottom Dollars’ explosive and notoriously unpredictable live performances.

And, with good reason. This loud, bizarre amalgamate of psychedelic rock, bowery-style punk and soul is something you can only get from the Dollars, only their way.

“Semi-professional sonic assassins.” — CMJ
“This is a rock and roll band whose reverence for classics like The Clash and The Band made their concert an appealing fusion of garage and punk tropes playing off whiskey drenched southern rock licks.” — Pancakes & Whiskey
“A ‘can’t miss live act!’” — No Pulp Music

Omega Tribe

OMEGA TRIBE

Omega Tribe are a four- piece band from North-East London. The band were formed in the early 1980s and drew on diverse musical influences to bring strong melody along with an impassioned polemic to the anarcho music scene of the time. Omega Tribe were a group of teenage musicians who were supported by established groups Poison Girls and Crass to bring their sound to an audience beyond local youth club. There were three vinyl releases, including the album ‘No Love Lost’ and performances across the U.K. and in Holland and Belgium.

Fast forward 30 odd years and the band have reformed. Some have dubbed Omega Tribe ‘anarcho-punk legends’, but there is more to the band than nostalgia. Reconnecting with the strong anti-war message of their early work, Omega Tribe are bringing a fresh positive energy to their performances and seeking to connect with people with a message of unity and resistance. In the first few months they have written new material and perform a live set that blends it with the old.

Omega Tribe bring a playful self-parody to their songs celebrating diversity, non-violent resistance and solidarity.

Dead Man String Band

DEAD MAN STRING BAND

Strait from 6 feet under comes Dead Man String Band! A one man rock sideshow from Cincinnati, OH. This isn’t the one man acts of the past you’ve seen before, instead it is a full on rock show with an arsenal of amps, drums, and a style that’s truly unique to the Dead Man giving it the fan made genre of Appalachian/Delta Punk. Since it’s creation Dead Man String Band has been wowing and captivating audiences with not only an amazing sonic display but a visual show made to grab the listeners eyes, as well as their ears. With a stage setup that has been referred to as “Looking at a science experiment” Dead Man String Band has created a sound all his own that will surely grab your attention.

Taking DIY to a whole new level is a phrase commonly used to describe DMSB’s sound, presentation, theatrics, and energy. From being brought out on stage in a coffin, to simply slumping towards the stage stiffly, throwing the audience off, until the first notes hit and by that time their stuck to their spot on the floor. Brining crowd members on stage and making them play his drums is just another thing that makes this act unique. Crowd participation isn’t just encouraged, it’s almost forced to an almost comic like degree. The presentation is another captivating aspect. Dawning a mask fabricated from the same folks that brought you GWAR’s props, when he walks on stage you know you’re in for a crazy night. Finally the music styling isn’t something most are accustomed to seeing. The hands are playing in the stylings of Doc Watson but the amps are in the tone of Slayer and then add the fact that he’s playing a drum set at his feet. Don’t let the low number of members fool you. This is a band as much as any other.

March 21st, 2015 marked the release of Dead Man’s debut album “I” which was widely accepted with much anticipation. And that’s where we’re finding ourselves today. With a new album out and a promising horizon, the Dead Man String Band plans on becoming a force to be reckoned with!

Dr. Ring Ding

DR. RING DING

Dr. Ring Ding a.k.a. Richie Senior was born in 1970 in Münster, Germany to a multi-cultural and musical household. His introduction to music began with singing along with his family and learning the recorder (deathly boring) but he soon switched to more interesting instruments such as the trombone. From 1987 on he played in the horn section of El Bosso & die Ping Pongs, one of Germany‘s most famous Ska bands and the only one of its time which sang in German. From this experience he came to love Jamaican music.
Around Christmas of 1992 Richie formed his own band, Dr. Ring-Ding & the Senior Allstars. Over the next ten years they would release five albums, numerous singles and two albums as the backing band for Doreen Shaffer (JA) and Lord Tanamo (JA), and in doing so made their mark on the international Ska scene.
Dr. Ring Ding is a popular live performer, studio musician, arranger and producer in many different music genres such as Swing, Rhythm & Blues, Chanson, Hip Hop, Rumba-Soukouss and Punk, but, above all, in Reggae, Dancehall and Ska.
Richie‘s cooperation with German Reggae producer HP Setter was immortalized on the solo dub album Big T‘ings and on the compilation Riddim In Exile. His work with the Rock crossover band H-Blockx secured him a hit with the tune Ring Of Fire, which went to number 13 on the German charts in the summer of 2000. Further collaborations with H-Blockx followed; among others on the title track of their album Get In The Ring (2002), which boxing world champion Sven Ottke selected as his entrance music.
Dr. Ring Ding has also made spectacular contributions to single selections for national and international producers: Doctor‘s Darling (Germaica Records) went to the top 20 of the German Black Music Charts at the end of 2002 and the German language Vom Vatter (Germaica Records) appeared on numerous Reggae compilations.
Dr. Ring Ding has performed live all over Europe and North America. He has appeared alongside many veterans of Jamaican music (Bob Andy, Doreen Shaffer, Phyllis Dillon, Hopeton Lewis, Derrick Morgan and Dennis Alcapone, just to name a few), and has played in the horn section of the New York Ska band The Toasters, most recently during their 1998 “Independents Day” tour in the US.
Television and radio appearances in Germany, Spain, France and the US have helped spread the positive vibes that emanate from Dr. Ring Ding. As a Deejay, singer and/or trombonist, he has appeared on a number of albums from international Ska, Reggae and Hip Hop artists, such as: Stubborn Allstars (New York)
Soul Kid Click (New York)
Curse (Germany)
Adjusters (Chicago)
Toasters (New York)
Spook & the Guay (France)
and many more
Additionally he has appeared as Deejay or MC with famous sound systems all over Germany, as well as in Rome, Paris, Lyon, Toulouse, Bordeaux, Granada, Barcelona, Madrid, Budapest, Szczecin and New York City, such as:
Crazy Baldhead (USA),
Rude (Italy),
Culture Rock,
Natural Mystic,
Small Axe,
Lucky Punch,
Kingstone,
Pow Pow Movement,
Ba Ba Boom Sound
and many more
In brief, Dr. Ring Ding lives music, particularly the music of Jamaica! As one of the first performers in Germany who bridge the Ska and Reggae scenes, he has opened many ears and hearts for the “Good Vibes” of his favorite sounds.

King Django

KING DJANGO

King Django is internationally loved and respected as an important proponent of roots music. With a diverse career now spanning nearly three decades he has made his mark as an influential bandleader, singer, songwriter, arranger, engineer, producer and musician, especially in the genres of ska, rocksteady, reggae, dub, rhythm & blues, soul, klezmer and even hardcore/punk rock. He has toured many times throughout the US, Europe, Canada, and Japan as the leader of Stubborn All-Stars, Skinnerbox and the King Django band and as a sideman with such renowned acts as Rancid, Murphy’s Law, The Slackers and the Toasters. He is also widely known and respected as an influential mentor of younger musicians, sharing and spreading his deep knowledge of Jamaican and American music. He currently performs regularly leading the King Django Band and Bad Luck Dice, and as a sideman with Predator Dub Assassins.

In late May/early June of 2013, Django led the second outing of his Version City Tour through 27 east-coast shows in 25 days. Version City Tour #2 featured a compact and versatile quartet, with Django joined by Brian Hill of NC’s Regatta 69 on bass and vocals, guitarist/vocalist John DeCarlo of hard-touring Boston ska group Westbound Train. Ranging from 45 minutes to three hours, the tour showcased the songs of these three veteran performers, along with drummer Anthony Vito Fraccalvieri of Long Island bands Broadcaster and Royal City Riot, who had just come off of a six-week US tour with The Toasters.

In February of 2013. Django was invited to perform in Kingston, Jamaica at the Institute of Jamaica’s Jamaica Music Museum, taking the stage accompanying such musical dignitaries as Mystic Revelation of Rastafari, Ras Michael, Nambo Robinson, Big Youth, Junior Reid and Bongo Herman.

In late 2012/early 2013, Django took his popular, long-standing New York City, Rocksteady and Ska “Version City” party (active in various forms since 1997, most notably at prestigious NYC venue The Knitting Factory) on the road, leading the first Version City Tour through 30 dates in 10 states. Playing piano and trombone, supported and backed by young PA group The Snails, Django performed a wide selection of his own material as well as a number of classic reggae and ska tunes.

In 2012 he celebrated the 20th anniversary of his independent label, Stubborn Records and the 5th year anniversary of his “Version City” vinyl label based in Kingston, Jamaica.

In late 2011, Django was a headlining performer on the month-long “Echo Mix” tour along with Konrad Kuechenmeister (Berlin, Germany) and Brian Hill of Regatta 69. In June of the same year, Django set out alone for the Florida performing a string of shows with several different backing bands.

In 1997 he assembled the Version City recording studio which rapidly became the hub of the NYC ska and reggae scene. Django moved the studio to New Brunswick, NJ in 2000, where he continues his engineering and production work for a wide roster of international clients.

Quique Gomez

QUIQUE GOMEZ

After several years of collaborations and tours around the world toghether, also backing up many Chicago Blues Legends in United States and Europe, ace Italian guitarist Luca Giordano and outstanding Spanish charismatic harp player and singer Quique Gomez present their recorded tribute to classic Chicago blues,  Chicago 3011 Studios Sessions. The album was recorded on 2011 in the Windy City and produced by GG Records late last year. The two Europeans, who met each other for the first time  in Chicago, share a common passion for “old school” electric blues and the genre’s many past and present masters.

As versatile musicians fond of performing in various musical styles, both Giordano and Gomez front their own bands and projects. But together onstage or in the studio, their deep and genuine passion for Chicago Blues roars to the fore.Chicago 3011 Studios Sessions is a 12-song CD, consisting of six originals played by the core band and six freshened-up classics with guests varying from track to track  plus a bonus track with all the special guests together.
After touring with these two young bluesmen all around Europe, backed up by their excellent band, several Chicago blues “living legends” were happy to support their friends Giordano and  Gomez on the session.  Bob Stroger  appears on “Bad Boy,”  Jimmy Burns contributes to “That’s Life,” Billy Branch plays  on “Rocket 88” and not least  Eddie C. Campbell turns up on “Eddie’s Shuffle.” The two Europeans lovingly dedicated the album to Mr. Campbell..Of course, the Chicago blues elders made visitors Giordano and Gomez feel and sound right at home, that is, Home Sweet Chicago.

DON TRIP

When Don Trip surveyed the music landscape a few years ago, he felt something substantial was missing. “Nobody’s giving you the full picture,” the Memphis rapper says. “We’re all human. We all go through different moods. Today we might be happy. Tomorrow we might check the mail and it’ll be all bills and your attitude’s totally different. My whole point is to show everything.”

So when Don Trip began recording material, he purposely focused on life’s highs and lows, on people’s triumph and pain, on our bliss and rage. One of his most powerful cuts was 2009’s “Letter To My Son,” witch details the pain he feels because he doesn’t get to see his son as much as he would like to. It’s an emotional, heartfelt song that documents the battle Don Trip was having with his child’s mother.

As a child growing up on the rugged East Side of Memphis, Don Trip never thought he’d be able to rap. He came from a fatherless household. His mother worked multiple jobs to take care of their family, which also included Don Trip’s brother and sister. By the time he was 15, Don Trip noticed that his family was falling apart.

So Don Trip turned to rap. He recalled the preteen rap duo Kris Kross, who emerged as platinum superstars in the early 1990s with fun raps. A child himself at the time, he was inspired that kid rappers with a lighthearted lyrical agenda could break through in the midst of the gangster rap renaissance.

As Don Trip started gaining clout in the underground Memphis rap scene, Memphis rappers such as Three 6 Mafia, Project Pat and 8Ball & MJG enjoyed a string of gold and platinum releases. The breakthrough 2005 film Hustle & Flow also documented the Memphis rap scene, further added to the city’s status in the rap world. All of this success made Don Trip believe in himself even more. Now there was a bona fide Memphis rap movement, something he could be a part of and emerge from.

Now that he has momentum, Don Trip is anxious to continue delivering the type of heartfelt material that has made him one of the hottest rappers today. “The more honest I am, the more open I am with exploring everything,” he says, “the more people will cling on and will be able to relate to what I’m saying.” Millions of people already do. Millions more will follow.

Fast forward a few years, he is refueled after a bad business partnership. Mr. Trip has returned, and is more driven than ever. With numerous projects to date, he plans to release his first ever studio album titled “Godspeed”, all with no major label, or any label for that matter. Stay tuned, he has so much more in store.
