n the great tradition of The Monkees, The Partridge Family and Josie and the Pussycats comes a band actually built around a TV series. Not only does Flabby Hoffman star in their own weekly television series in Chicago (Thursday nights from 11:30pm to 12:30am on CAN-TV Cable Channel 19), but the titular figurehead of the band, Flabby H. himself, is a true activist who believes in and is attempting to instigate a modern day revolution driven by the empowerment of the righteous as a methodology for change in a world gone horribly wrong due primarily to the co-opting of media by elements of the pathological aristocracy. One can of course find the Flabby Hoffman Trio (which depending on the evening is anywhere from a four piece to eight piece band) performing and/or tooling around at nearly every decent club in town once in a while, where the Flabby Hoffman team of volunteers and cross-dressing harlequins are responsible for booking each of the bands that perform at the club for the evening in what is called The Flabby Hoffman Caravan. The Flabby Caravan is a series of shows throughout the Chicago rock circuit with about 300 gigs under its belt which features tons of great organically driven music (usually a four band line up) as well as prize giveaways, occasional comedic and acoustic tweener acts, a freaky host, customized event programs and more all of which is videotaped to gather footage for the Flabby TV series. The Flabby Hoffman Trio itself, unlike the TV bands mentioned at the top of this description who were primarily designed for teeny boppers and lumberjacks, looks to appeal to all of the disenfranchised of the world. Those pushed to the side by a mainstream media which seems like an electronic Spanish Inquisition forcing us to conform or be tortured. A mainstream cultural indoctrination device that seems more concerned with turning everyone into a mindless robot than encouraging truly creative people to create. With their hard rock, riff oriented, axe blistering antics and soul stirring lyrics, there is no doubt that this band is not in the mood to compromise. Will this trio get crushed by the weight of the imposing forces in control of our culture, or will they learn how to thrive in a world run by sociopaths that seek to crush every last vestige of individuality… If you would like to be part of this effort, join us on the TV series, join us on our efforts at movies productions and webisodes, fool around at a Flabby live show, do some original productions and help make this thing resonate…be my guest.

FAMILY GROOVE COMPANY

Family Groove Company integrates the groove sensibility developed by funk/jazz crossover artists like Herbie Hancock and Medeski, Martin, and Wood, with thoughtful, tight songwriting that takes cues from the likes of Steely Dan and the Beatles. The result? An infectious, fresh sound the band calls “groove informed jazz/rock.” With a sound defined by rich analog keyboards, tight crunchy guitar, and a pocket-based rhythm section, FGC brings a fresh sound that bends genres and dares the listener not to dance.
The band got its start in Los Angeles, where the four members met in music school, and then planted its roots in Chicago in late 2002. In the span of their career, FGC has played close to 1000 shows from coast to coast, logging stage time in more than 350 venues in 34 states. Notable performances include 11 straight years at Summer Camp Festival in Illinois, rocking large Chicago stages like the Riviera Theater and Vic Theatre, and playing alongside heavyweights like Victor Wooten, moe., Umphrey’s McGee, and Lotus. The band’s discography includes four full length albums, Reachin’ (2002), The Charmer (2006), Live in Chicago (2008) and Models and Metrics (2008), with a much-anticipated fifth album currently in the works.

FANG

FANTASTIC MAMMALS

This young Chicago-land trio is coming out of the gates swinging with their unique brand of high-energy indie rock. Their driving punk rhythms and swooning melodies are backed by an artful array of chiptune synths.

Fantastic Mammals’ sophomore album, “What Happened To My Friends?” is slated for a Spring 2013 release.

FANTASY BUNKER

Like six people emerging out of a Charles Bukowski story, Far From Finished rises from the pages to remind you just how messed up life is and just how dangerously humorous our filthy little secrets and insecurities can be. They blaze the tragic line between shame and comfort, leaving no one safe along the way. Every song leads you through a story, an opinion, or cry for help. You’re brought back to a time where every breath you drew was innocence, as you fall with every minor and rise with every major. The story of Far From Finished begins in New York. They’re your average kids saying grabbing the world by the balls. They’re here, they’re messed up, it’s their own fault, and they love it.

FASCIST BEAUTIES

Since 2003, Fashion Bomb has made a statement. In early 2004, they won a competition sponsored by a major Chicago radio station 94.7 The Zone, which landed them a development deal with Hollywood Records. The band recorded four songs with well known producer Tadpole (Disturbed, Soil, Earshot, Drowning Pool). Later that year, the band opened for Marilyn Manson in Chicago during the Against All Gods Tour. Because of their distinctly “undead” appearance, some are quick to label them “goth”. But those who really get Fashion Bomb understand that the band and its classically trained singer are not so easily categorized. Drawing comparisons to Tool, Nine Inch Nails, A Perfect Circle and Rob Zombie, Fashion Bomb continues the evolution of metal. In 2006, Fashion Bomb self released their debut full length album, “Devils to Some, Angels to Others” which included fan favorites “Low” and “Christ Puncher”. Never content to rest on their laurels, Fashion Bomb re-tooled and forged ahead with bringing their music to the masses. To this end, Fashion Bomb signed with Full Effect Records in 2008 (Faster Pussycat/Pigface/Newlydeads). The Detroit/Los Angeles based label re-released “Devils to Some, Angels to Others” with a bonus remix by Asrock of Final Cut.

EVEN IN BLACKOUTS

In an alternate universe where The Ramones played only acoustic guitars and were fronted by a female lead singer, the band might have sounded quite a bit like Chicago’s Even in Blackouts [EIB]. The creative force behind EIB is John “Jughead” Pierson, who was formerly the lead guitarist of the now-defunct Screeching Weasel, the band that brought punk to the suburbs before Green Day made millions with the same formula.

EVERSOJAKE

EversoJake is a class act! Their creative songwriting, inspiring vocals, and outstanding musicianship create a very unique presentation, yet very welcoming allure to a wide demographic. The music is primarily guitar driven rock incorporating classic rock, blues, jazz, and country styles. The lyric and vocal style is something to behold covering a spectrum from modern day rebellious indie-rock to the sexy torch sound from the speakeasy era.

EversoJake? During the band’s initial shows, various audience members and fellow musicians suggested that, together, the band members portrayed the essence of a circa-1920’s, prohibition-era band that might be found jamming at your local juice joint. Whether it was because of their enjoyment of martinis or their portrayal of a “party-like-it’s-illegal” kind of style, the comparisons were drawn. They were very “jake”. In 1920’s Chicago, “Jake” was a slang term for “cool.” Thus evolved: “EversoJake” — the band’s homage to the euphoria often experienced when doing what you love (and drinking martinis).

In early 2006, EversoJake finalized its cast of characters and began performing throughout their hometown, Chicago. Performances are dynamic, ranging from bare essential acoustic shows to the incorporation of extra talent to achieve that perfect “recording-studio” produced sound. Energetic guitar playing and seductive singing make the band’s visual presence exciting — some would even say mesmerizing.

Songwriting is EversoJake’s cornerstone. This is evident on their debut CD “If it Makes a Good Story”. “If it Makes a Good Story” is currently being marketed on iTunes, CD Baby, and PayPlay.FM. Additional avenues are being surveyed daily to pursue both sales and publishing/licensing opportunities. The band has already generated fans and sales in Europe via their first tour of Germany.

ESJ fits the bill and hits the mark whether their music is pouring out of a personal stereo system, setting a mood for television / movies, floating through a coffee shop during an acoustic set, or blazing from a festival stage. EversoJake is a versatile band you do not want to miss.
