Travis Larson Band

TRAVIS LARSON BAND

Travis Larson Band’s complicated phrasing, impossible timing, and seamless flow cause some to suspect that the band must surely operate from only one, albeit enormous, brain.

With eight studio albums and three full-length performance DVDs, the Travis Larson Band is firmly rooted as one of instrumental music’s premiere acts that masterfully delivers full throttle rock-fusion.

Sansara

SANSARA

We are a three-piece rock band based in Chicago. We formed in 2012. All in all, we sound like a mud-wrestling match of Mudhoney and The Wipers vs Dick Dale and The Beatles…. I guess. Good melodies and heavy sound is what we aim at.

BURNSIDE & HOOKER

Based out of Chicago, Burnside & Hooker merges the styles of folk, blues and roots-rock. The band is comprised of 6 members – guitarist Michael Vogus, violist Diana Mayne, cellist Ted Graham, drummer Vuck, upright bassist Ken Fuller, and vocalist Rachel Bonacquisti.

In 2013, they released their debut album, “Rail Yard Hymns” and are slated to release their second in the Spring of 2015.

Burnside & Hooker can be seen performing around Chicago at venues like Double Door, Grand Ballroom at Navy Pier, festivals such as ChillFest and Green Fest, WGN news station, House of Blues, Metro, Lincoln Hall, and Schuba’s.

“Rail Yard Hymns” has been played on Vocalo, Chicago Independent Radio Project (CHIRP), Fearless Radio, and multiple tracks from the album have appeared as the Song of the Day on Chicago Music Guide.

TITANS OF PUNK

Titans of Punk is a Song Writing, DJ, and Production Team. Across their individual careers, the team have collectively sold over 100,000 records and toured over 10 countries.

LUCKY BOYS CONFUSION

Long regarded as a haven for electric blues, power pop, and even metal, Chicago served as surprisingly fertile soil for the speedy growth of Lucky Boys Confusion. The five-piece ska-punk outfit — Kaustubh Pandav (vocals), Adam Krier (co-vocalist, guitar), Ryan Fergus (drums), Jason Shultejann (bass), and Joe Sell (guitar) — formed in 1997 when Pandav and Krier began writing songs together. The pair drew from punk, rap, and reggae to create an infectious ska-punk sound that combines Pandav’s Latin melodies with Krier’s Beastie Boys-influenced rap.

Recruiting members from their previous bands, Pandav and Krier formed Lucky Boys Confusion and began to perform at house parties and YMCAs in Chicago’s western suburbs. The band’s first recorded effort was a four-song EP, What Gets Me High, released on their own Townstyle label in 1997. The Lucky Boys’ tales of suburban teen life proved popular and the band followed in 1998 with the full-length Growing Out of It, again released on Townstyle. The 17-track Growing Out of It included the four songs from What Gets Me High, along with new material written almost exclusively by the team of Pandav and Krier.

As the Lucky Boys’ following grew in Chicago, “Dumb Pop Song,” a single from Growing Out of It, found its way into regular rotation on Q101, Chicago’s influential alternative rock station. With regular radio play, the band’s fan base exploded and suburban house parties gave way to headlining gigs at the House of Blues and the legendary Metro. Fueled by the popularity of “Dumb Pop Song,” Growing Out of It went on to sell over 6,000 copies. An EP, The Soapbox Spectacle, was released on Townstyle in March 2000 and the band eventually signed with Elektra Records. Lucky Boys Confusion’s major-label debut, Throwing the Game, was released in May 2001, featuring the college radio favorite, “Fred Astaire.” Commitment followed three years later. Some of their hookiest material to date, the guys made minor waves on national radio and television with “Hey Driver,” but with Elektra’s subsequent demise, the band soon found itself labeless.

Undeterred, the Lucky Boys embraced the DIY aesthetic and spent the next few years opening and headlining tours relentlessly across the country. As a result, the band’s underground following stayed loyal. Working on various songs on the road, they next released the EP How to Get Out Alive in June 2006 on their own Townstyle Records, an imprint of Reincarnate (Sony/BMG). To celebrate the EP’s release, the band played a five-night stand at Chicago’s Beat Kitchen before heading out on nationwide dates with Bowling for Soup, Punchline, and the Army of Freshmen.

SWIZZLE TREE

Swizzle Tree definitely has an interesting name, which in a strange way defines the style of the band…Interesting. Soaring melodies, crunchy guitars, magnetic harmonies, a solid rhythm section and strange personalities make up the unique sound of this infectious rock band. Born and bred in Chicago/Downers Grove, Il – Swizzle Tree’s members are no strangers to music. With influences ranging from the Beatles to Weezer and Alkaline Trio to Material Issue, the band shows no signs of weakness. Steve, Saarang, Todish, and Jiggles all went to high school together at Downers Grove South in Downers Grove, Illinois. Working together at a retirement home, Saarang, Steve and Todish became quick friends – getting high and serving ‘old’ people food is a good form of bonding…and getting high is too. Sooner than later, they did what every clan of tight-knit teenager’s did…started a band!!! After luring Jiggles in, and releasing their self-titled album, Swizzle Tree(2001), featuring the song Green Eyed Fool mixed by Grammy-nominated producer Johnny K (Disturbed, Plain White T’s, Avenged Sevenfold), and selling a few thousand copies, the Tree started playing bigger and better shows in Chicago. With the release of Play On(2003), a new-improved music machine started branching out through the Midwest, building up markets and making new friends. After a lot of hard work, a lot of agonizing van trips with no A/C, and a radio add in Council Bluffs, IA/Omaha, NE ~ the Tree saw a steadily growing fan-base and surge in record sales. With the track Marc’s Car becoming a hit on Council Bluffs, IA based KIWR (89.7 The River), the band sold close to 10,000 copies of Play On throughout the Midwest. Which spawned the release of Here We Are(2006) on Areena Records, and the independent release of No Really I’m Happy(2008). Swizzle Tree knows what they want to do in life: Play music!!!

MYSTIKAL

Mystikal’s debut album, Mystikal, was released on New Orleans-based independent record label Big Boy Records in 1994. He found himself in conflict with fellow New Orleans rappers signed to Cash Money Records including U.N.L.V., Lil Wayne and B.G.. They dissed him on tracks like “Drag ‘Em in Tha River” by U.N.L.V. and “Fuck Big Boy” by The B.G.’z. He struck back with the diss “Beware” which was on his sophomore effort Mind of Mystikal. Mystikal’s sister, Michelle Tyler (whom he had close ties with), sang the chorus on “Not That Nigga” and her fate became a major influence on Mystikal’s music after her untimely death. The songs “Dedicated To Michelle Tyler”, “Murderer” (both on Mind of Mystikal), “Murder 2”, “Shine” (both on Unpredictable) and “Murder III” (on Let’s Get Ready) refer to her murder. It wasn’t long after their beef that Mystikal and Lil Wayne decided to squash it and become collaborators.

Mystikal signed to Jive Records and released Mind of Mystikal in 1995. He signed to No Limit Records in 1996 and released Unpredictable in November 1997. He appeared on many of the No Limit albums released from 1997 through a chunk of 1999. In late 1998, he released Ghetto Fabulous. That was his last album with the label, and he left later in 1999 to go on his own

In 1999 he began recording his album after leaving No Limit. Let’s Get Ready was released in 2000 and contained “Danger (Been So Long)”, which featured rising pop star Nivea, and was the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs number-one single in June 2001. Let’s Get Ready debuted at Number One on the Billboard 200, making it Mystikal’s only chart-topping album to date. The album also featured the popular, Neptunes-produced hit “Shake Ya Ass”. The song retained cult-like popularity and can be heard in the background of numerous movies.

Mystikal’s most recent solo release was the 2001 album Tarantula, which contained the hit single, “Bouncin’ Back (Bumpin’ Me Against The Wall)”. Though it presented Mystikal’s typical and funky flow style, which had the distinction of drawing comparison to legendary R&B soul screamers Little Richard and James Brown, the song also saw a blending of jazz and swing elements with hip-hop. The well received album was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Rap Album in 2003, and Mystikal was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Male Rap Solo Performance that same year. Mystikal was also featured prominently in the single, “Move Bitch” by Ludacris as well as “I Don’t Give a Fuck” by Lil Jon & The East Side Boyz along with Krayzie Bone, both in 2002. In 2003 he starred in the film 13 Dead Men.

Mystikal headlined a concert at the Mahalia Jackson Theater of the Performing Arts on Mardi Gras, February 16, 2010. Mystikal’s first song after being released from prison was an underground track with former No Limit labelmate Fiend entitled “I Don’t Like You”. A few weeks later, Atlanta-based, New Orleans-born R&B artist Lloyd released “Set Me Free” featuring Mystikal. The music video for “Set Me Free” was released on May 18, 2010 and was shot in New Orleans, primarily from the Calliope Projects.

In an interview in May 2010, he stated that he was still obligated to Jive Records for one more album and alluded to the fact that he would be taking the necessary time to ensure the album would be his best to date. He also stated that he had not come up with a name for the album, but stated that he was considering The Big Shake Back. He made a promo song called “Papercuts” featuring once again Fiend and the unexpected Lil Wayne. In 2011, He performed at the Gathering of the Juggalos. Mystikal and Busta Rhymes were signed to Cash Money Records by Birdman on November 16 the same year. His first single for the label, “Original”, was released shortly thereafter and featured new label-mates Birdman and Lil Wayne. Mystikal is currently touring the United States. He also appeared in the BET cypher in 2012.

In 2014, Mystikal recorded a new song for Mark Ronson’s new album entitled “Feel Right”.

JP HARRIS & THE TOUGH CHOICES

In short, J.P. Harris plays Country Music. Not “Americana,” not “Roots,” “Folk,” or any other number of monikers used to describe a slew of spin-off genres; he plays from the foundation of these styles, the music that has influenced four generations of songwriters. In a world where prefixes have been added to the term “Country,” JP simply sticks to the old-fashioned sounds that have called to him. Referencing influences would be like describing each stitch in a quilt; every scrap of fabric tells a story of how the weathered and comfortable blanket came to be…

Born six minutes before Valentine’s Day in Montgomery AL in 1983, JP’s life was to be full of color, travel, hardship, and grace from the day he first saw the world. After more than six generations in Alabama, his family would leave seeking work, first to California and then on to Nevada. He left home on foot at the age of 14, traveling via thumb and freight train, living the next 4 years mostly from a backpack, tarp, a bedroll. Eventually landing in the northeast, he worked as a farm laborer, equipment operator, lumberjack, luthier, and carpenter.

In the summer of 2011, after two years of touring without much in the way of recorded music, Harris made a trip to the sweltering heat of south Louisiana. In an old Cajun cook shack he and a few pals pounded out an album in three days, and shortly after it’s completion, he made the move to Nashville. JP released his all-original debut “I’ll Keep Calling” in May of 2012 on Cow Island Music. Shortly after it’s release, without the aide of publicists or a large label’s bankroll, it won “Best Country Album of 2012″ from The Nashville Scene, the same honor at the Independent Music Awards, a cameo on NPR’s American Routes, and as JP says “a whole mess of other stuff in the papers and on the internet.” (Two songs were also licensed to the soundtrack of 2012′s “At Any Price,” starring Dennis Quaid and Zac Efron.)

His latest album “Home Is Where The Hurt Is” (produced by Harris, guitarist Adam Meisterhans, and engineer Justin Francis) was recorded and mixed at Ronnie’s Place (formerly the personal studio of Ronnie Milsap) at home in Nashville. It features not your typical Music Row studio musicians, but young local players, many of whom have spent thousands of miles on the road in JP’s backing band The Tough Choices. Lending a hand on the album vocally is friend and local Indie-Country star Nikki Lane, as well as long-time friend Chance McCoy, singer and guitarist of Old Crow Medicine Show (McCoy also took rhythm and lead guitar in addition to fiddle duties throughout the album.)

When he isn’t touring, JP can usually be found repairing an old house, splitting wood in his backyard, or digging through the trash for useable refuse.

Stephen Lee

STEPHEN LEE

STEPHEN LEE got his boots wet making sinners out of saints with the PunkRockCountry band, “Who Are the Southern Baptists?” However in January of 2013 Lee released the solo and self-titled Stephen Lee EP, recorded and mixed by Dan ABH of The Lab ALL-AGES, in Alexandria, VA.

With a move to Baltimore, Lee released his second solo EP, Too Drunk To Punk. Too Drunk To Punk features faster paced tunes, “Boys Talk,” a self confessional of angst and pessimism towards open mic regulars, but over all reveals a softer and more lyrical approach, steeped in the solitude of solo touring, and the resignation of self reflection. These five songs were recorded live at Lee’s parent’s house in Manassas, VA and engineered by Chad VanNortwick in February of 2014.

Stephen Lee performs either alone or accompanied, both regionally and regularly, hitting Virginia and Maryland dates with frequent stints to points further out. Songs and videos are available at ReverbNation.com/StephenLee, and FaceBook.com/StephenLeeVA, while his music is up for purchase at STEPHENLEE.BANDCAMP.COM. Steve’s been known to trade CDs for a floor to crash on or even just kind words. He likes whiskey after his set, too—just saying.

Rosencrantz

ROSENCRANTZ

Rosencrantz (formerly Aztalan) is influenced by such bands as Braid, Thursday, At The Drive-in, Taking back Sunday , Cursive, and many others. Like many relationships now-a-days, this one started online.  Nils and Rob happened to start chatting online about starting a new project with a unique math-y sound mixed in with their 90s emo influences.  Nils and Rob spent almost a year jamming and perfecting their sound before they found a bassist, Ian.  Ian introduced them to drummer Brian.  After a few months and a few shows, Ian had to depart from the group to focus on other projects.  Shortly thereafter, Keegan strolled into their Waukesha practice space and the band was ready to record.  They spent a weekend at Howl Street Recording Studios.  After recording the ep (never released), the boys took a break and decided to move on without Brian.  Re-grouping in the spring of 2014, Brandon joined them on drums, and the Schlitz loving foursome was officially born.  Rosencrantz plans to record in early September and release a new ep in January of 2015.

The Foundation

THE FOUNDATION

New Jersey was the birthplace for a true music extraordinaire – Derek Brown aka D.Roc – who now uses his talents to write, produce and perform his innovative and fresh music in the heart of Chicago.

It’s easy to claim that Derek was born with a gift in the arts realm when reminiscing about his ongoing releationship with music. At the age of 6, he began experimenting with multiple aspects of music starting with the trumpet. 6 years later he transitioned to the piano, which he taught himself by ear. This newfound knowledge and flexibility with music allowed him to lead Church services alongside musicians from all over New Jersey.

Derek encountered many talented artists who have taught, challenged and inspired him to create music of his own. He took every opportunity to learn from them, and ultimately learned about various types of sounds within a wide variety of genres. Even today, he calls upon the lessons he learned to create timeless music, which has equipped him to inspire even the most seasoned artists. Usually, it’s his comforting aura and simplistic, sensible approach to production that extends inspiration to those around him.

Derek’s curiousity of the science behind music thrived in his life and molded him into what he is today. It continues to burn – pushing him beyond any limits of creativity. Derek is relentlessly driven to start, cultivate and in time lead the movement that resurrects the creation of timeless music among today’s artists.

SÓLSTAFIR

SÓLSTAFIR are different. Their unique blend of metal with beautiful melodies, psychedelic moments and a strong undercurrent of classic / hard rock comes as varied and at times appealingly bizarre as the landscapes of their native Iceland.  Their fifth full-length “Ótta” is the logical continuation of the musical course this four-piece adopted on the highly acclaimed forerunner “Svartir Sandar” (2011). Expect the unexpected, such as seduction by subtle strings or a hypnotic banjo. None of this was apparent when SÓLSTAFIR released their album debut “Í Blóði og Anda”, which translates as ‘In Blood and Spirit’ in 2002. Instead of today’s Icelandic gravel throated siren chants, frontman Aðalbjörn Tryggvason spit forth vitriolic crust-like vocals and the ripping guitars were clearly black metal inspired. Yet the band was as clearly identifiable back then as now and along their way with the next albums “Masterpiece of Bitterness” (2005) and “Köld” (2009) introducing new elements in a continuous evolution. SÓLSTAFIR’s music is as much the product of Arctic blizzards as of red hot volcanic magma, erupting geysers, lush green pastures, and salty waves. With “Ótta” the Icelanders touch something ancient and timeless, while defying easy categorisation. This album needs to be heard again and again to peel back layers of details, each different and yet always revealing the same: great songs – all of them. The song titles of “Ótta” form a concept based on an old Icelandic system of time keeping similar to the monastic hours called “Eykt” (“eight”). The 24 hour day was divided into 8 parts of 3 hours each. The album starts at midnight, the beginning of “Lágnætti” (“low night”), continues through each Eyktir of the day and ends with “Náttmál” (“nighttime”) from 21:00 to 0:00. This form of time keeping is more open than the relentless ticking of modern times, where each second is made to count, which turns humanity into cocks of the corporate clockwork. Now SÓLSTAFIR give you the antidote. Just lean back, close your eyes, take your time and lose yourself in this masterpiece called “Ótta”!

Shoebomb

SHOEBOMB

It started out on a whim, and now it is a care-free gang of guys playing music. Add pizza, Pepsi, s’mores, chips, chicago style hot dogs, leather, knifes, daggers, swords, old school video games, girls, inside jokes, white & black plain t-shirts, jeans, very cool tube socks, dirt, grease, sweat, and possibly some type of mental social disorder and you get Shoebomb.

They are just four guys who like to hug each other and play music. If you want to listen to a band while skateboarding, walking to a store, waiting for a train, going on a road trip, sneaking out at night, moshing, or simply just to sing along, this is the band. They write songs about ANYTHING. They barely take themselves seriously.

In the end, they have no idea where they are going with Shoebomb, but they do know where they have been. And as long as there are stupid-nonsense-sense bands out there, Shoebomb will give hope and light to those dark souls whose ears have been poisoned by today’s music. Shoebomb is love, Shoebomb is life.

ANGEL DU$T

The members of Angel Du$t may overlap in bands like Trapped Under Ice, Turnstile and Diamond Youth, but their frenzied hardcore punk stands alone just fine. They’re preparing to release their new album, A.D., this Tuesday, June 10 on both REACT! and Reaper Records.

“What I appreciate most about Angel Du$t, and A.D. in particular, is the authenticity of their approach. They shun genre norms, but not in a pretentious way, they just don’t care what you think they’re supposed to be. There’s a wildness to it, like they don’t have anyone telling them what may or may not work, and somehow it all works. On A.D., they manage to pull together influences from all corners of the punk universe and, against all odds, bring it together in a cohesive and memorable way. A.D. is at the same time incredibly familiar and the wildest record you’ll hear this year,” said REACT! Records owner Evan Wivell.

The Weirdos

THE WEIRDOS

Dateline: June 1977, Los Angeles, CA. In an interview for SLASH Magazine they proclaimed “We’re not punks, we’re Weirdos from Hollyweird!”. This wasn’t just goofy sloganeering this was a stance intended to distinguish The WEIRDOS as a band apart from the burgeoning punk rock scenes in New York and London. After all, The WEIRDOS were dwelling in their own urban wasteland, L.A., which they embodied in their songs, graphics and clothes. Back in 1976, while attending CalArts, Dave Trout and Cliff Roman had been staging various ‘performance art’ installations. It was around this time, that Trout and Roman hatched the concept of a ‘rock band as performance art’. To the art snobs at CalArts in 1976 rock music was horribly passe and Roman and Trout were no different. But this was just the kind of contradiction in terms that appealed to Trout and Roman’s non-conformist sense of irony. With Trout on bass and Roman on guitar they quickly inducted mutual friend John Denney as their lead singer. Denney, an un-employed, part-time student actor and malcontent with aspirations to be a rock ‘n roll frontman was eager to join a band. Days later, Denney’s younger brother Dix, a 19 year-old guitar ace right out of the garage was added to the line-up. The drummer-less quartet, heavily influenced by Iggy and The Stooges and The Ramones, began to jam on covers such as “Pushin’ To Hard” by The Seeds, “Break On Through” by The Doors, “Mystic Eyes” by Them and “Bad Girl” by The New York Dolls. Soon, all the lofty notions about performance art had fallen by the wayside as their first few original songs began to take shape. Highly motivated but with no real plan, they continued to jam and rehearse. Unbeknownst to them, the proto-Power Pop band The Nerves rehearsed at the same studio as The Weirdos. Credit Mr. Peter Case, then of The Nerves for ‘discovering’ The Weirdos. One night, while The Nerves were waiting for their turn to rehearse, Case was struck by the thundering bombast that shook the walls of their tiny studio. When The Weirdos concluded, Case entered the room looking perplexed and asked; “That sounded great, but, where’s the drummer?” The Weirdos chimed; “We’ve had a few but we fired ’em all. …to be continued.
In June of 1977, Time Magazine published a photo of THE WEIRDOS as part of an expose on the emergence of ‘punk rock’. The unexpected publicity prompted the band to jump on the proverbial bandwagon. Six weeks later, The Weirdos were headlining the hallowed Whisky A Go Go. ..to be continued In 1990, after releasing records on BOMP, DANGERHOUSE and RHINO, The WEIRDOS released the CONDOR LP and the crucial WEIRD WORLD VOL. I on FRONTIER. In 2003 The WEIRDOS released the long-awaited WEIRD WORLD Vol. II; a collection of studio and live recordings.

Adolescents

ADOLESCENTS

The Adolescents are a punk band formed in 1980 in Fullerton, California by Steve Soto after leaving Agent Orange in December 1979. The original line-up was led by frontman Tony Cadena, with Steve Soto on bass, Frank Agnew on guitar, John O’Donovan on guitar and Peter Pan on drums. Both O’Donovan and Pan left in June and were replaced by Rikk Agnew and Casey Royer formerly of Social Distortion and The Detours and also singer for the OC punk band, D.I.. The band created fast, energetic music that was at the forefront of the Orange County punk music scene.

The Runner Ups

THE RUNNERS UPS

Starting in early 2010, Allen Mendez brought a group of men together as “The Runner Ups” to take on the idea of a ska punk band. The premise was to play fun, upbeat, loud music that people could get up and dance to. “The Runner Ups” sought out well-known ska scene bands like “Run and Punch” and “Shortstop From Tokyo” to begin the first few years of playing in the Chicagoland area.

On January 18th, 2014, the band took on new members and added new instrumentation to their arsenal. The music of “The Runner Ups” became more technical and began to embrace various influences like Dixieland, Latin merengue, big band swing and even Arabic. This fusion of genres into the ska punk sound allowed the band to stray away from the standard and embrace something new in every song.

Now, the powerhouse 7-piece group—including trumpet, trombone, and tenor and baritone sax—have begun touring and playing all over the Midwest. “The Runner Ups” are doing their best to play everywhere and with everyone, so people with different backgrounds can all enjoy a ska punk fusion group with high energy music to dance to.

The Sea Empty

THE SEA EMPTY

The Sea Empty are: Dennis Huston, who plays both electric and acoustic guitar, harmonica, sings about things and stuff, and ponders and writes about world problems. Rick Nitz, who plays bass, guitar, gets into the groove, sings about things and stuff, and always dances. Thomas “Teddy” Thornhill, who keeps time with bombastic beats and creative drumming, writes and arranges music, and is a heritage hog farmer during the week. The Sea Empty is in its infancy, but Dennis, Rick and Teddy have all been playing music for many years with other noteworthy bands such as The Statutes of Liberty, Milk At Midnight, Meteorologists, and Traces of Lead. They are all audio engineers and music fanatics, which is what brought them together when the calling came to create music with a futuristic spin to folk/noise rock with a dash of alt-country, a spoonful of retro 80’s, and a whole lot of guitar. The Sea Empty have accepted the challenge and are in the driver’ s seat with the peddle to the floor!

Wild Skies

WILD SKIES

Wild Skies is the band that almost-met-in-real-life.

Kristine and Aaron live two blocks from each other. Kristine and Danny were living in the same suburb for a year. Danny and Tommy played several shows together in different bands, but they never actually met.

All it took was a Craigslist ad to put together Wild Skies, a folk-rock band from Chicago, IL. The group shines through thoughtful songwriting and soaring harmonies; embracing the traditional roots of the folk genre, but adding their own modern twist. Wild Skies pushes the boundaries of what you thought folk music could be – and they do it right.
Combining folk elements like banjo and violin (Danny Caldwell) and standup bass (Tommy Good) make the sound familiar yet unique. Mixed with traditional keys (Spencer Adamson), guitar (Aaron Lechlak), and vocals (Kristine Sorum-Williams), you get the upbeat, shake-the-rafters sound that is Wild Skies.

Cavepainters

CAVEPAINTERS

The music of the Cavepainters digs deep, tapping into the sounds of old, wired America. Their songs are anchored by rich angelic harmonies and ethereal lyricism. 2013 saw the release of their first album, “For The Sea,” made up of country blues & ghostly ballads. Staying true to themselves and their sound, the band recorded and released the album on their own.

DEATHSTARS

The Swedish industrial rock band DEATHSTARS returns with a blast when they release their long anticipated fourth studio album »The Perfect Cult«.

While their predecessor, 2009’s »Night Electric Night« was spawned with the band fairly off the hook of their »Termination Bliss« touring cycle, only to see the band hitting the road yet again. For the upcoming new output, DEATHSTARS finally managed to give themselves the needed time span to work in a “calm and methodic manner, fully exploring the music writing process which resulted in the most dramatic Deathstars album to date.”

Besides their many headlining tours around the world over the years, the band also joined RAMMSTEIN’s sold out arena streak for their “Made In Germany 1995-2011” European Tour 2011/2012. At the same time they released »The Greatest Hits On Earth«, a compilation presenting a decade of their tracks, released via Nuclear Blast.
»The Perfect Cult« has been captured in several studios: drums, guitars and bass were recorded in Bohus Sound Recording, Kungälv Sweden, vocals in Gig Studios in Stockholm, Sweden and keyboards, orchestration and editing was done in Black Syndicate, Stockholm. While the mix as usual was handled by legendary Stefan Glaumann (RAMMSTEIN, WITHIN TEMPTATION), guitarist/keyboardist Nightmare took care of the production from bottom to top. For the drum-, guitar- and bass-production, Nightmare worked together with Roberto Laghi (ENTOMBED, IN FLAMES) at Bohus Sound Recording. The Mastering was done by Svante Forsbäck (VOLBEAT, RAMMSTEIN) at Chartmakers, Helsinki, Finland.

As far as the lyrics are concerned vocalist Whiplasher states that “all the tracks are about our lives. Each song is a reflection on a situation or a topic that deals with our experiences, usually from a jet black perspective.”
With visions inspired by amoral excessive lives, human fears and decay, the songs will be nothing less than a dark playground set between straight forward tracks, atmospheric anthems and the unwashed loins of lawless rock.

SNIPER 66

Sniper 66 cultivates a brash, hard hitting brand of punk from their home soil in Austin, Texas. Sniper 66 was formed in 2009, by singer/guitarist Dylan Close and bassist Jeff Ellis, later rounded out by guitarist Jeremy Brister and drummer April Schupmann. They play punk, tight and crisp with bullet paced drums. While giving a nod to the forefathers, they also blend in the fury of 90’s punk. For over five years, Sniper 66 has been putting a modern spin on a classic genre of music.

Incendiary, invigorating sounds have been distilled to ensure maximum delivery. You can hear bands like Oxymoron, One Way System, Abrasive Wheels, The Booked, and The Virus weave in and out of these still original sounds. They have shared the stage with Krum Bums, Lower Class Brats, DOA, The Casualties, Sham 69 and Bishops Green, among others.

Rock and roll grit fuels tunes like “Firecracker”, “I Know It’ True” and “All Dressed Up” from their breakout self-titled album. Their second, ‘Caput Lupinum’, features aggressive and thoughtful tracks like “Another War” and “Society”. Mostly, Sniper 66 sets a course straight ahead and finds the fastest way to get there. Charging through most songs in under two minutes, Sniper 66 get to the point and fire up anyone within range.

They blazed a path of new fans after a midwest tour in 2013 where they burned down the stage at Tulsa’s F-You We Rule OK Fest. Their 22 date east coast ‘Warpath Tour’ in May 2014 to support their sophomore album was a success, highlighted by a raucous set at Chicago’s Midwest Live & Loud. They went back out for a week in November of that year with Denver’s Potato Pirates and The Bad Engrish, and OKC’s Violent Affair for the Punks Alive Tour. They are garnering attention in 2015, and will be playing the festival stage at Punk Rock Bowling with such bands as Rancid and Dropkick Murphys, before taking off on a summer west coast tour. This band is showing no signs of slowing down!

Clench your teeth, raise a pint, and prepare to scream!

With an elastic vocal range, her daring approach to rhythmic interpretations and a bevy of Grammy winning jazz icons on her recordings and in her various touring ensembles, Erin McDougald has captivated audiences of jazz aficionados and novices alike from Paris to New York City.

DJ EXILE

EARTHGANG

We’re from the badlands…” A musical reputation like the one Atlanta holds can play blessing and curse to up and coming artists. On the one hand, the city’s rich history and vibrant creative scene provide constant inspiration; on the other, established lanes and expectations can make it difficult to break the mold and get people to take notice. West Atlanta duo EarthGang isn’t worried about fitting into easy boxes–they’re happy to follow the drums, drugs, and ideas that inspire them most, whatever they may be. Rappers Johnny Venus and Doctur Dot would just as soon jam with the Arctic Monkeys and wake Frida Kahlo from her grave to do their cover art as they would fire up a Clipse record and rap along. “Atlanta’s music scene has gone through so many changes in the past 15 years alone. When we started, everybody from the Westside was talking about trap music. There was only one type of sound you’d hear coming from Atlanta, one mainstream sound you hear. For us, there really was no blueprint,” says Venus. “Even if there was, we weren’t about to follow it. We were just doing what we do, like people on the frontiers heading west: No one told them what to do. They set up shop and did it how they wanted to do it.” Most rappers probably don’t cite molecular gastronomy or Pink Floyd’s Live at Pompeii as muses, but Venus and Dot dedicate themselves to taking influence from the unexpected and bringing listeners into the worlds they’re exploring. Whether observations about the decay of their home city, tales of intimate encounters, reflections on the younger years, or visions of their future, EarthGang vividly, viscerally renders the music of their minds. “When you listen to our album, we want you to feel like you’re on a trip, like where you are now is exactly where we want you to be for that period of time.” A peak at where what they’re working on might take you? “Our new music sounds like jaguars fucking in the jungle.”
