“A transparent band in a time where imitation is common”

The beginning,
One Steel Wound began in 2012 when Brandon Castillomet Mike Boyer and D. Reitz in the south suburbs of Chicago. In the following months consisting of a search for a bassist, Gerard Ortiz would emerge and fill the vacant space thus completing the line-up. By the time the line-up was complete, the sound harnessed, the goals marked, and the first songs composed; the year was coming to an end.

Amidst opening for artists such as Drowning Pool, Affiance, It Lies Within, Tenafly Viper, Mushroomhead, Eyes Set To Kill, and Kill Devil Hill; OSW was creating what would become their first recorded effort in the format of an EP.

This date marked the writing process of One Steel Wound’s debut album “Vendetta”.

Performing as headliners and opening acts ranging from city house shows to Mojoes; it is evident that with a determined unfiltered mindset One Steel Wound is living by their guts and goals and not dollar signs and thus retaining a permanent space within individuals eager for a refreshing artist of modern times.

Been in many bands over the years, written hundreds of songs, and never really ventured off on his own. With former bands, John focused on vocals, guitar and writing but dabbled in many other areas of music such recording, percussion, bass and piano. So it’s no surprise that he is extremely capable of taking on a solo project such as this one! Well that time is now, John is currently recording an EP in which he will “Phil Collins” it up and record all the instruments himself. One can say it is a collectivesound of punk/alternative and of course he will throw in a little bit of experimental indie dance beats for all the ladies! Mostly, he is ready to write music and expand instrumentally that touches base on many life experiences as well as some he wrote just for all of you to relate to.
