J. Bernard Bowse is a jazz pianist, vocalist, and songwriter. He began his classical training at the age of 11 in California. After graduating from high school in Massachusetts, he became part of the Marine Corps Band in which he performed as a pianist, percussionist, and singer for more than four years throughout the US, Australia, Thailand, and Japan. In 2011, he moved to Chicago to pursue a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance at Columbia College Chicago where he studied piano with the well-known teachers Sebastian Huydts and Donald Neale, and voice with equally renowned Martez Rucker, Sharon Carlson, and Sandra Cross. He has performed at different venues around Chicago including Singer Salon, Davenport’s, Andy’s Jazz Club, Original Mothers, and PianoForte as a solo performer, accompanist, and backup singer. He is currently preparing his debut EP which will be released in Spring 2016.
