Chicago’s Westside is having a full blown rap resurgence at the moment and at the forefront of this wave is Lucki Eck$, one of the most unique voices emerging from the Chicago scene. Lucki is relatively new to the music business, as the 17-year-old MC has only been recording music for under a year. 2013 finds the phenom prepping the release of his debut project, Alternative Trap, which he describes as his own “subgenre.” Lucki mixes tales from the streets with cleverly crafted rhymes that Andrew Barber of Fake Shore Drive calls “incredibly cerebral.” It’s smart, it’s witty and it’s unlike anything else being created in hip-hop today.
