Kayo Dot is an avant-rock group originally from Boston, Massachusetts, United States (now based in Brooklyn, New York) that was formed in 2003 by Toby Driver after the disband of maudlin of the Well.

The music of Kayo Dot can not be accurately described by the limiting contemporary genre nomenclatures. Their songs involve complex instrumentation (composed by singer and front-man Driver), generally without refrain. They are substantially longer than typical rock songs, often ranging from 8 to 15 minutes in length.

The inception of Clad in Darkness began in the winter of 1999 for guitarists John Benter and Coy Scottberg. Meeting in high school the two shared a common passion for music in general and metal especially. The idea was always to create epic far reaching soundscapes that transgressed the conventions of metal. Soon after the band would be complete with the addition of ex-Sapphist drummer Brian Rendina, with fellow members Casey Hogan handling the vocals and Chris Shive playing bass.

Matt Tate is a Chicago-based Chapman Stick artist, Guitarist, Composer and Instructor. For over the last 10yrs he has been dedicated to mastering the Chapman Stick and performing Solo and in bands. Currently, he is composing music for a Solo Stick record (M@T8) to be released this Fall, launching a new website, touring, and working on multiple recording/performing collaborations (metal-math-prog-experimental). His current musical leanings are in the vein of the technical-death-shred of Blotted Science to the rhythmic madness of Frank Zappa, the interlocking poly-rhythmic spiderwebs of King Crimson and the stark, overwhelming beauty of Arvo Part.
