Fronted by performance artist, Genesis Breyer P-Orridge, Psychic TV (born out of Industrial Music pioneers, Throbbing Gristle) made highly innovative and provocative music from the early 80’s to mid-90’s, blending elements of psychedelia and dance with Industrial sounds (known as “hyperdelic”). In 2003, drummer Edley ODowd of the legendary NYC rock band Toilet Boys persuaded Genesis to rekindle her rock spirit and Psychic TV, which became known as “PTV3”.
Silver Abuse started before you were born. They were showered with beer and spit at their first show. Now the world has caught up with their odd and angular musings and are starting to pay respect. Fans say they sound like nobody else. In a good way.
Implodes is a Chicago quartet that has coalesced around guitarists Matt Jencik and Ken Camden in the last few years, with the group settling on their current lineup in 2009. The group has been hunkered down in a secret location, hard at work honing their craft, and occasionally venturing out for for signs of intelligent life in the real world, as well as the increasingly frequent live show. The first pronouncement from the group was a 2009 self-titled cassette, followed by a solo album from guitarist Ken Camden on kranky entitled Lethargy & Repercussions in early 2010.
Ray Tokyo Rosamond has been delighting audiences with her guitar-playing and Latin charm since her first guest appearance on the Mexican soap opera, Fruta De Pasíon. She became a world-wide sensation when her debut solo album went platinum virtually overnight. Besides her commitments in the music world, Ray Tokyo is the spokesperson for the Village Green Lemur Preservation Society and is currently developing a line of complicated sleep-wear. Stacey A-go-go-goldschmidt received a toy drum set from her parents, who were looking for a way to keep her from wrecking the pots and pans and their last nerve. When the neighbors complained about the noise, Stace-A-go-go took her drums to the beach and played on the boardwalk. From there the two young chaps became wildly posessed and inspired. Light bulbs flashed bright and the girls’ instinctual nature materialized the motivation to create magically clutsy sounds.
Impulsive Hearts is Danielle Sines. She sings, shouts, plays guitar and synth, and records noises on tape recorders. She likes melodies that remind her of summertime.
