Jordan Looney was born and raised in St. Paul, Minnesota, and his strong Midwest ties shines through in his music. Having finished up his final year at Northwestern in June 2010, he has found his place in the Chicago Hip-Hop scene, known for combining his dynamic flow and keen wordplay with diverse productions. Music, particularly rapping, seemed to be the destined path for Jordan (or J. Loonz), as he would tell you, “Mother was a poet, Father played percussion; so this Hip-Hop here was just a part of the production.”
Developing his lyrical abilities as a youngster, Loonz displays a style that reflects not only the unique sound of Twin Cities Hip-Hop, but also the sounds from around the country and world that find their way to the center of the country. By choosing not to use a stage name, Jordan Looney is looking to be himself as an artist. The music he brings to the table is a reflection of his experiences and the views he develops along this journey called life.
jordan Looney has performed at various venues throughout the Twin Cities and Chicago, including Northwestern University’s Dillo Day, O’Gara’s, 501, The Fine Line, The Red Sea, The Varsity, The Turf Club, SubT, McFadden’s, The Wild Hare, and DePaul University. He has shared bills with various artists such as Raekwon, Nelly, N.E.R.D., Girl Talk, Big Sean, Mike Posner, Estelle, Regina Spektor, and Afroman. He is now planning to gain gain a stronger fan base through the quality of his music and unique marketing strategies, while continuing to strengthen his presence in his native Midwest Hip-Hop scene.
