TRAGEDY(Melodic Hardcore Punk Crust from Portland,OR) Tragedy is a modern hardcore punk band, originally from Memphis, Tennessee, but currently residing in Portland, Oregon. The band formed in 2000 and was born from the ashes of influential modern hardcore bands His Hero is Gone and Deathreat. Tragedy’s music is characterized by unrelenting, heavy hardcore punk sound, punctuated by melodic interludes and downshifts in tempo, often with lyrics containing apocalyptic themes and imagery. The band and many of its contemporaries, such as From Ashes Rise, Severed Head of State and Remains of the Day, have created a recognizable sound inside the crust punk genre.

Musically they draw heavily from Revolution Summer Era-DC punk yet with a raw, biting hardcore edge. They string together chiming guitars, driven bass, chaotically rhythmic drumming, and intensely sung vocals. They purposefully sing in Spanish and about the personal and political travails of working people of color. To date they’ve released a one sided 12” on Emma Navajas (2007) and 7” on Stonehenge (2010).

La Armada’s focus is to leave their mark on heavy music. A punk band at heart, they utilize elements of Afro-Caribbean rhythms and metal to create a style as unique as their story. Formed in the Dominican Republic in 2001 from where they dominated the Caribbean scene for years, the band opted to take a leap and relocate to Chicago in 2008, where they still reside.

Influenced by bands ranging from the Bad Brains to Death, they take elements from their native Island’s music to conjure a unique recipe; explosive live energy, and a clear cut narrative that highlights the effects of neo-colonialism on vulnerable communities.

Whether headlining tours throughout the world or supporting the likes of Sick of it All, Propaghandi, Strung Out, Death by stereo, and more, La Armada has come to bring a vibrant spin to the scene.

Forged in the bowels of Chicago, IL, BLACK SEPTEMBER arose from the
depths in 2006 with their demo Contortion. Inspired by bands such as
Bolt Thrower, His Hero Is Gone, Dissection and Bathory, they decided
to form a band that was both heavy and aggressive, but more
importantly, original. Although unrefined, the demo laid the path for
the albums soon to come.
Band founders and mainstays, guitarist C.M. and classically trained
vocalist J.M., and various lineups have released four EPs to date,
including a split with Louisiana’s Thou. “The Forbidden Gates Beyond,”
the band’s debut full-length, originally self-released in 2010, shows
BLACK SEPTEMBER firing on all evil cylinders with a steady lineup and
ready to unleash their madness upon the unsuspecting masses! The band
has previously shared the stage with the likes of Unearthly Trance,
Skeletonwitch, Javelina, Masakari, and Magrudergrind, among
others.

Since 2004, WARTORN has assaulted humans live across thirteen countries in North America and Europe and released an arsenal of recordings on Profane Existence, Crimes Against Humanity and more before hooking up with Southern Lord, who released the band’s brutal Iconic Nightmare in January. Keeping up their raging tradition of pissed-off socio-political crustpunk/hardcore in the realm of Victims, Disfear, Words That Burn and labelmates Wolfbrigade and From Ashes Rise, Iconic Nightmare brandishes WARTORN’s most powerful warcries and energetic attacks to date.
