The Scofflaws is an iconic band from the New York Ska scene of the 90’s and an integral part of the legendary Moon Ska Records catalog.

The group’s self-titled 1991 classic “The Scofflaws” 1991’s and 1995’s “Ska in Hi-Fi” were recently reissued on Jump Up Records.

Hailing from Chicago, Run and Punch is a high-energy ska band with pop punk roots. Performing for over a decade, this 6-piece delivers a unique blend of soulful female vocals, aggressive pop punk hooks, and a brassy horn section with one goal: to get you moving!

The group was started by two high school friends that grew up on the south side of Chicago. Both classically trained musicians, they fell in love with the city’s vibrant punk and ska scenes. By 2010 they were looking for their next projects and started writing what would become Run and Punch’s first full length, No Loose Ends.

Run and Punch has 6 releases under their belt starting with their debut EP Uppercut in 2011.

Although the group has seen multiple lineup changes during their run, founding members Chris Curtis (Trumpet) and Anthony Johnson (Bass) have cultivated a consistent musical identity.

Throughout each iteration Run and Punch has always featured a dynamic female vocalist and punchy brass section, and delivered a playful pop punk foundation via the rhythm section.

DJ Chuck Wren has hosted the ska radio show “Everything Off-Beat” across the Chicago dial since 1989, currently airing Sundays at 9 PM on WLUW-FM 88.7. Since 1993, his label JUMP UP RECORDS ( www.jumpuprecords.com ) has released over 100 albums including ones by local faves Deal’s Gone Bad, The Drastics, and Green Room Rockers. His monthly night at Delialh’s is Chicago’s longest running ska/reggae night at 18 years, and when he spins you see piles of piles of original Jamaican 45s sprawled all over the place.
