MARS RED SKY
Brought up on bands like Sonic Youth, The Jesus Lizard or My Bloody Valentine,
Bordeaux-based outfit MARS RED SKY had no idea that they were about to become
French stoner scene cornerstones when they founded the band in 2007. Yet the
heavy psychedelic trio already share many similarities and obvious connections with
the “heavy and slow” community. Free from any musical genre consideration, the
musicians build their very own style on the tracks of the underground pioneers.
Julien Pras’ ethereal and melodic voice emerges from a thick and complex rhythm,
carried by sci-fi literature’s lyricism. Almost cinematic, MARS RED SKY’s sounding
has a peculiar and unique flavor, standing out within the heavy rock scene.
To record their self-titled debut album, they shut themselves up in a remote house
in the wilderness of the Spanish desert. Hypnotic, exhilarating, heavy, the release
conquered the very select heavy family and brought the trio to the biggest
international rock and metal stages (SXSW, Hellfest, Desertfest, Roadburn,
Eurockéennes), as well as opening for major acts such as Sleep, Dinosaur Junior,
Kyuss Lives!, Killing Joke, Detroit or Gojira. On stage, they manage to recreate their
sophisticated studio atmospheres and to deliver the special sonic touch that
characterizes them. Their live shows absorb the listener, lose him into a visual and
vibrant limbo and take him into another dimension. Beyond a simple concert, it is a
real sensorial experience that is proposed.
A series of EP releases follow, including a split with post-metal sextet Year Of No
Light in 2012. In 2014, MARS RED SKY begin a collaboration with French label
Listenable Records and welcome their new drummer Matgaz to replace Benoît
Busser who decides to leave the band. Together they complete the albums
“Stranded In Arcadia” (2014), “Apex III (Praise For The Burning Soul)” (2016) and
“The Task Eternal” (2019). Matgaz’s vision and musicianship create depth in the
trio’s personality, which take a darker and more massive turn throughout these
three productions.
The band’s latest EP (out April 2023 on Mrs Red Sound & Vicious Circle) features
dark folk artist Queen Of The Meadow. The power of psychedelic heavy meets the
depth of dark folk harmonies in a complex and exhilarating flavor.
Julien Pras: vocals, guitars, harmonica, broken piano.
Jimmy Kinast: bass, drones, sound effects, lead vocals on The Final Round.
Mathieu Gazeau: drums, percussions, rhodes.
DEAD FEATHERS
Based out of Chicago, IL, Dead Feathers has proven themselves to be a band with exceeding potential and lasting appeal since day one.
Building off of the success of their 2019 debut album “All is Lost” on Ripple Music, Dead Feathers has been gaining a growing fan base across North America and overseas through ambitious touring and supporting acts like Kikagaku Moyo, All them Witches, SLIFT, and many more in their home city. During that time, they have established their name and carved a debut full-length album with the anticipation of their sophomore album “Full Circle ” soon to be released september 22nd, 2023 on Ripple Music.
Their live shows, filled with sensual and thunderous energy on stage, have put concert goers under their spell. Brought on by the soulful and emotional vocals from Marissa Allen combined with The fuzz and reverb backed guitars, ever flowing bass lines, and booming drums, Dead Feathers sets a mood which has been crafted with the skill and artistry they’ve come to be known for which has attracted mentions and praise from music blogs such as Rolling Stone France, Classic Rock Magazine, and more.
While Dead Feathers has been compared to various classic 60’s & 70’s bands such as Jefferson Airplane, Big Brother & the Holding Company, and Frumpy – along with modern acts like Blues Pills, Black Mountain, and Graveyard, they bring a style and songwriting that is exclusively their own.
BIONIC CAVEMEN
The Bionic Cavemen are vintage heavy. And they’ve come to destroy the future. They began when the guitarist and the bassist met in high school. They were the only two who fit in, and they bonded over pep rallies and bake sales. The drummer met the guitarist in the woods and asked what he was doing with his life. They jammed and eventually brought on the singer because he is the guitarist’s brother, and the only person they knew to have a credit card. Over a series of car crashes and smoke-filled garages, they honed their sound, embracing the loud blues rock that allowed for the occasional psychedelic trip, while still maintaining their meat-eating, whiskey-drinking roots.
FEVER FEEL
Fever Feel is an original rock and roll band of 2016, founded by primary songwriters Landon Franklin and Logan Gabert. However, they are much more than just a group of musicians. Fever Feel is a culture, a movement, and part of a new age for rock and roll music.
“There are some rare acts who craft their art from a place of deep introspection that the listener is able to feel in their core. Fever Feel is one of these bands.” – Beatroute Magazine
Causing listeners to dance and sing, then lose all control with their captivating visions of a simpler time, Fever Feel’s sound is comprised of emotionally dynamic, groove-filled compositions that lay the foundation for Franklin’s thought provoking poetry. Gabert’s guitar leads, abounding in both power and delicacy, soar with an enigmatic finesse. These make way for Platt’s equally compelling organ tones, which are shrouded in subtlety, yet executed violently. Together they shine like a moonlit night, contrasting the bands tight rhythm section led by Franklin and his melodic bass playing.
“The easy listening flow of Fever Feel is orchestrated with the ability to pull anyone to the deepest depths of any ocean and without a second thought shoot them off spiralling into the outermost reaches of the known universe.” – So Taste Music Review
Formed in 2014, this Calgary-based 4-piece has quickly become one of Canada’s most exciting up-and-coming bands. Over the past year, the group has been hard at work playing their way coast to coast across the great nation of Canada. Having added organist Thomas Platt to their line-up in early 2015, the addition has taken the band’s already captivating experience to even greater heights. They continue to progress not only within the world’s blossoming underground rock and roll music scene, but overflow quite seamlessly into the realm of popular music culture. The band is expected to release their much-anticipated debut LP sometime in 2016.
