THE RIKTERSWebsite Listen
Like the bastard offspring of Elvis Costello and The Stooges, The Rikters play pop distilled until it's gritty, heavy and raw. With the basic elements of guitar, bass, drums and vocals, The Rikters deliver finely crafted tunes with the weight of a sledgehammer. In other words: The Rikters are a Rock Band. Vocalist/Guitarist Doug Jenkins and Drummer Riley Ryan had been playing together for years before they decided it was time to start their own band, and along with bassist Brad Sawicki, they formed The Rikters in 2004. Their debut EP, "Mistaken For Scientists", was released in March 2005 and enjoyed regular rotation on Chicagoland stations including Q101, WXRT, WLUW and WONC. For their follow-up EP, The Rikters recruited producer Brian Zeiske (The Academy Is, The Hush Sound) to track the band, and legendary engineer Steve Rooke (The Cure, Wilco, Franz Ferdinand) of Abbey Roads Studios in London to master the recordings. The resultant "Don't You Get It" EP was released in 2007 to high acclaim from both fans and critics alike.

Lyricists Jimmy and Marie pen in lines of experience on themes dealing with love, alienation, personal politics, sarcasm, social and political angst, and a ray of hope that may or may not be found. IMPALE Website
The original members, Frank Shannon - guitar, Phil Messina - drums, and Ed Cichon - bass, started the band, and through different member changes, found Jay McGury - vocals, and Kenny McClarin - guitars (ex members of metal band Rupture). IMPALE has had it's ups and downs, struggling through numerous member changes, people having to leave and come back, periods of time with little to no shows and the long, time consuming process of writing songs and promoting, but WE HAVE FUCKING PERSEVERED THROUGH IT ALL AND ARE STILL ROCKING OUT TO OUR OWN STYLE OF METAL!!!
IZEL'S SPIRAL Website

With a fusion of early 90's rock and today's mainstream artists Izel's Spiral weave the right elements into their unique sound. "If Metallica and Stone Temple Pilots had a child, it would've had Bush for step parents and Breaking Benjamin as a distant cousin." That's one way to describe the sound Izel's Spiral creates.
WIDDLE MONSTERS Website Listen
In a time where everything has been done, there is a real misconception of originality and individualism. For too long have we allowed these self sucking depressive "musicians" to repackage that which has come before them. If you don't understand now, you will when you're done following. We are not a metal band. We're entertainment. If you are too stupid to understand that not all performers can fall into a rank and file then I suggest you go eat what your television feeds you.Yes, we are electronic in part. That which is programmed is done out of necessity due to the fact that it is beyond the reach of human ability.

Sprinkling their impassioned brand of alternative rock with touches of screamo, pop-punk, and metal, Middleburg, FL's the Red Jumpsuit Apparatus were originally born in 2003. This encouragement led the guys to eventually book themselves some local shows, much to the quick embracement of their hometown scene. With a buzz growing, the Red Jumpsuit Apparatus recorded their first EP and relentlessly began spreading their name around Florida. in 2005, the Red Jumpsuit Apparatus began crafting their debut full-length. JUST SURRENDERWebsite
To start a band you need one thing...people who love music. Some ability doesn't hurt either. In 2003, Just Surrender started with high school friends Jason Maffucci, Andrew Meunier, and Steve Miller, but, like most new bands do, they searched for that last member who would add an extra element; vocals, musicianship, and the right attitude were on that list. Dan Simons, fresh out of a band and looking for something that would excite him, was the last piece of the puzzle. With the lineup tight, the guys embarked on a mission to build a reputation and make enough money to record some songs. Just Surrender put together a 4 song EP in New York's sought-after Nada Recording Studios with producer John Naclerio. Naclerio has worked with bands such as Brand New, Senses Fail, My Chemical Romance, and many others. When the Just Surrender sessions were done, Naclerio knew this band was special. "Rarely do young bands have the ability to shape a song AND have the attitude that they don't know it all. Actually, that never happens," says Naclerio. When the songs were posted online, the band quickly became one of the most popular artists on the music site www.purevolume.com

VICTORIAN HALLS Website
Victorian Halls came together in response to make-believe-over-hyped bands, and an era's stolen musical identity. Relying on sharp lyrical pathos and a wise, road-tested sense of dynamic interplay, the songs groove and dart with brash swagger, interspersed with hints of gossip and skewed technics. The rhythm section, heavier, tighter, and more impulsive than ever, drives the songs forward while keyboards careen over dueling vocals and interweaving guitars.

MURDER BY DEATHWebsite Listen
Part horror movie climax, part western barroom brawl and a gloss of wintry distortion. Murder by Death would be the house band back in the early 1900s in the West where the guns drew quick and the whiskey went quicker. Murder by Death's frenetic guitar-electric cello whirlwind piles up tension and ominous vibrations, only to wash them down with a knife-like guitar riff or somber piano flourish. With songs tackling timeless topics such as Satan, boozing, and the apocalypse, how could this band not be good?
THE BUILDERS AND THE BUTCHERS Website
"Chock full of junk store percussion, is this to be considered inspired by call and response old time Gospel, or is it the Gospel for modern folk pop lovers? This lo-fi recording of strings, mandolin, drums, "whatever you can get your hands on" percussion, guitars, banjo, bass, organ, and open vocal harmonies, is deceptively loose-sound sounding on first listen. As the listener dives deeper into the record it becomes pretty apparent that this musical mongrel of a band is pretty precise, but feels like it was hewn from dirt of the land, and sounds ragged and burnt from a lifetime of tilling. The lyrics are slyly smart, artfully sinister, and built for audience participation… and while the rolling high end mandolin and banjo pluck their ways through countermelodies, there's that perfectly tattered jumble of percussion that sets the knee to bouncin' and the hands together to clap along.
FAKE PROBLEMS Website Listen
Originally planned as a solo outing for vocalist/guitarist Chris Farren, Fake Problems occupy the space between altcountry, folk, and indie pop with an added dose of punk D.I.Y. appeal. Fake Problems first documented their sound on the album Watching the Bull Get the Matador, though it had more electronic undertones than the twangy countryfolkrock (which could evoke images of early Against Me alongside Whiskeytown) later releases would showcase further.

WILLIAM ELLIOTT WHITMOREWebsite Listen
A former roadie/merchandiser for Iowa Hardcore outfit Ten Grand, William E. Whitmore honed his material and live performance when opening to fill the gap created by his cohort's tendency to rip through their sets within twenty minutes. Claiming influence from the likes of Captain Beefheart, Ralph Stanley and Minor Threat, and hailing from a horse farm in a small town along the Mississippi River, Whitmore plays traditional, rural blues, with the intent of injecting the "inflection" of hardcore. Firstly Whitmore possesses a striking voice, with traces of Leonard Cohen, aged Johnny Cash, and a more ragged Keb Mo; it's a tool which, along with suitably clichéd slang, underpins much of his sound. Often referred to as the "Hillbilly Ray Charles," Mr. Whitmore builds his songs of redemption and his murder ballads with little more than his banjo, his harmonica, and his incredible voice.

COUGARS Website Listen
People only say "rock 'n' roll is dead" to sell records. That way a label, PR hack or jaded journalist can proclaim some band "rock's salvation." It's a load of shit. Even in these harrowing times dominated by nu metal, vapid teen pop and cookie-cutter pop-punk, we must continue to believe in the power of rock.Cougars believe. They know that rock never went anywhere, even though culturally obtuse writers and bottom-line-watching label presidents have decided it's back. Each Cougars show is a testament to its vitality. Six guys (including former members of Big'n and Hot Stove Jimmy) thrust onto the stage for a multi-instrumental assault: dueling guitars, driving bass, manic drumming, ominous keyboards, beguiling vocals. Like a hurricane spinning into motion and laying waste to all that has not been boarded up and abandoned, Cougars are collecting wolf tickets.

FALL7 Website
MIDWESTERN MASS Website
Benjamin Tully met Nathan Hupp in Wheaton, Il. Freshman year of high school 45 minutes away from that scum-sucking, corrupt city, Chicago (birthplace of ANTON LAVEY). They played rock and dabbled in the basic principles of satanism in a town with the most churches per capita in the United States . That's to say...home to Wheaton college (Wes Craven an Alumn); and home of the Billy Graham center; home of puritan-based, work-ethic drenched protestant ideals. They weren't anti-christian as much as they were pro-art. If you are reading this, and your in middle America with all these "wrong" feelings inside you. If you have people telling you that rock n' roll and out-there music and the free-exchange of ideas are somehow wrong!

YOURSELF AND THE AIR Website
Yourself and the Air, putting an awful taste to your mouth and having you leave with a smile. Known for their energetic human being performances in front of the few and the many, they invite you to come and stare with your eyes, absorb in the ears, and stand in cross armed form. And for those who like to move your feet to a rhythmic pattern, YATA will definitely be able to satisfy your urge to let loose and dance like a maniac. After all, you only live and die once right...?
REUBENS ACCOMPLICE Website
Reubens Accomplice is the moniker of Jeff Bufano and Chris Corak, a duo that has been doing their thing for some time now. With The Bull, the Balloon and the Family, the guys team up with fellow Phoenix native and Jimmy Eat World front man Jim Adkins, who helps run the Western Tread label. Adkins not only contributed vocals and guitar, but he also produced the album, and after listening to it, it is easy to see why he was so eager to get involved. There are layers of strings, pedal steel, xylophone, banjo and assorted other instruments stacked on top of the drums, bass and numerous guitars both acoustic and electric. All of this leads to a lush and lovely style of melodic rock that hints at influences from folk to country to pop. The songs are complex yet remarkably easy to delve into, and once you're there you are quickly engulfed by the sort of warm pop that is perfect for either sitting back and enjoying with the headphones on or turning up in the background as you go about your business.

EVEN IN BLACKOUTSWebsite
In an alternate universe where The Ramones played only acoustic guitars and were fronted by a female lead singer, the band might have sounded quite a bit like Chicago's Even in Blackouts [EIB]. The creative force behind EIB is John "Jughead" Pierson, who was formerly the lead guitarist of the now-defunct Screeching Weasel, the band that brought punk to the suburbs before Green Day made millions with the same formula.

THE QUEERSWebsite Listen
Formed in 1982 by Portsmouth, New Hampshire native Joe King (aka Joe Queer), the name 'Queers' was used simply to poke fun at what he called the "Art Fag" community in New Hampshire. The band broke up in 1984, but reformed with Joe Queer and a new line-up in 1990. That year, the band signed with Shakin' Street Records and released their first album Grow Up. The album earned the band notoriety within New England, but with the release of their next album 1993's Love Songs for the Retarded, on Lookout! In 2006 after releasing 6 albums on Lookout!, they signed with Asian Man Records.

DROP DEAD GORGEOUS Website
FEAR BEFORE Website
With the advent of hardcore music leaking into the mainstream, Fear Before the March of Flames are happy to just be themselves. Formed in July 2002, the band combines the temperment of the Blood Blothers with the intracacies of Converge and throws in a bit of Botch for good measure. What emerged was one of the most frantic, frenetic sounds to come out of Colorado. Buzz grew with the band, who soon found themselves opening for the likes of Underoath, Vaux, and The Blood Blothers.
