I AM GHOSTWebsite
After playing just four local shows, few would have predicted they would quickly sell 20,000 copies across the country through the power of the internet, and be the darlings of the Warped Tour and Alternative Press by the following summer. Now comes Lovers Requiem, a full-length debut so ambitious and assured that it seems the work of a much more established band. From the baroque Latin chorus that opens the CD, to the punishing guitar overdrive of first video/single Our Friend Lazarus Sleeps, Lovers Requiem will take fans of the EPs haunting melodicism to new symphonic heights. And fans of My Chemical Romance, HIM and AFI will discover a great new dark voice, the power and majesty that is I Am Ghost.
LOVEHATEHERO Website
Any preconceptions you may have about this album will be well and truly demolished when 'Goodbye My Love' echoes from your speakers - Jesus, this band can shred! With metal riffs straight outta Maiden, Lovehatehero have the knack of mixing up some very contemporary styles with a more classical influence.- Punktastic.com album review
KARATE HIGHSCHOOL Website
Much like their Californian state-mates HORSE The Band, Karate High School's "gimmick" of sorts lies in the fact that their music is influenced by classic video games. Apparently, the influence was so huge that the quintet decided to name their debut album Arcade Rock and use video-game like illustrations in the artwork for said disc. Also, the band uses customized keyboards and effects that give many of their songs the Nintendo-vibe that HORSE The Band has become known for. However, the comparison ends there as Karate High School focuses more on creating energetic pop choruses whereas the guys in HORSE tend to throw punishing breakdowns at their listeners.

He is known for his acid rap horror-core lyrics, inspired by his experiences in a mental institution as a teenager. Cage's latest album, Hell's Winter, was released on 20th September 2005, and demonstrated how Cage had cleaned up his act, turning his back on drugs, and dropping the misogynistic language inherant to rap's macho vocabulary. This resulted in a mature and intelligent, although still emotional, album which pointed towards a very personal direction for future albums.

SOMETHING BEAUTIFUL Website
Something Beautiful is a gothic-metal band from Chicago, IL comprised of two members, Dale Tippett, Jr. and Justin Smith. Abandoning tradition and convention, SoB is taking what youve come to expect from modern music and throwing it to the wind. This band is truly an extension of the post-modern world that is emerging from the underground. With fewer and fewer rules of form and content being followed by independent musicians, film makers and artists, it only follows that a group of creative persons would extend their reach beyond questioning authority (as contemporary bands like System of a Down and Tool, Queensryche, or Rage Against the Machine in the 1990s) and enter into a new endeavor of attacking the foundation on which the mainstreams social-political ideology is built upon.
CATASTROPHE Website
Catastrophe is an experimental rock band from Niles, IL. The band was formed in December of 2008 by Nahiyan (Viscosity, ex-Procreation), Jon (ex-Procreation, ex-Viscosity, ex-Brass Beans, ex-DIY) , Max (Aggressor, ex-Procreation, ex-Dark Spectrum), and Adam (Viscosity). They started the band as an experimental side project with no boundaries with the intention of writing materials on the fly while recording. After recording three songs (Dimension, Heading Back, and The Ghost Of Joan) the band decided to take the next step into performing live. Nahiyan decided to step aside from rhythm guitar and concentrate more on vocals. With that set in motion, the band decided to get Paul Kondratiuk a very talented guitarist from the local metal band Viscosity to fill the rhythm guitar position. With the line up set in stone, the band is ready to take the Chicago land area by storm.

Formed with the idea of putting everything we have into making music we have loved most of our lives, most of the songs on the Save My Soul E.P. have at least something to do with how much music has meant in our lives. Coming from backgrounds of other Southwest suburban Chicago bands like Article 57, The Risk and the short lived Endless Mike, we've all been through the ups and downs of writing, recording, playing shows, doing DIY tours and releases and I guess we just can't get enough of it.

THE BRIGGSWebsite Listen
There's something about the Briggs' brand of working class punk rock that seems sacred. It's below the surface of their anthemic group sing-alongs, their marching drum beats, and their gritty muted guitar riffs. It's the thought that this kind of music will never be heard on Clear Channel radio or "Total Request Live," yet the passion and ferver with which the Briggs deliver their third full-length is unmatched by any mainstream act today.
LEFT ALONE Website
Left Alone's Hellcat debut combines a mixture of musical influences from Rancid and the Clash to Operation Ivy, Swingin Utters, and Elvis Costello. From the punk driven title track "Lonely Starts and Broken Hearts," to the the heavily ska-inspired "Another Feeling," to the homage to Elvis' car in "My 62," Left Alone pours every ounce of creative energy and emotion into this album.

THE ABLE BODYWebsite
The Able Body hits the streets with a cache of experience both on the stage and in the studio. Sparked primarily from the ruins of former Chicago-based powerhouse The Greenlight Special, the band is quite familiar with local popularity, but remain huddled under a cloud of humility. Chris Medina (vocals, rhythm guitar), Zach Duran (lead guitar, backing vocals), Glenn Curran (lead guitar) Estevan Medina (bass, vocals) and Jason Czarnik (drums), come together as a close-knit quintet of ambitious men on a mission to lift a haze that distorts what only seems real. But don't be fooled by any resounding clichés suggesting matches and gasoline in the background; these five men are not here to simply set the scene ablaze; they're here to drop a bomb, make the floor fall out, and change the landscape forever, leaving their marks and chops etched in the ears and minds of everyone they encounter.
JIGGSAW Website
If the Chicago local scene were part of a sandwich JigGsaw would be the bread. Some of them don't eat meat and they are a more essential part than just jelly or mustard. There are plenty of jelly or mustard bands out there, don't you think? JigGsaw sounds like Integrity, Anger, Love, and anything else that gets the blood moving.

BOOMJUICE Website
The universe drew producer Vapor Eyes & singer/songwriter Capriquarius together with some 'far-too-far-out to be coincidence' type encounters that ended up leading the two down the proverbial brick road of musical creation. The rest was history about to be written. After setting fire to 'Accessory' together off Vapor's debut record "Earthrising," the two set out in full force mode on a new collaborative project: BOOMJUICE. Drawing off a palette of 90's styled urban and electronic elements, Vapor & CQ have crafted one of the most unique and infectious full-length albums set to hit your ear drums this year. Coming this Spring of 2009, ladies and gentlemen, we proudly offer you SLEEP LESS IN CHICAGO. Prepare for the BOOM.
GEMINI CLUB Website
Gemini Club pumps neon blood. Grinding its heart through the twin blades of One and Zero. Starting with a traditional writing and recording process Gemini Club completes a song and then asks the computer to destroy it, chopping, looping, and rearranging at its own descretion. With these cuts the members return to the ruble of their material and rebuild it and so create a sound no traditional rock band could ever achieve. This music is Science Fiction, guided as much by technology as the will of the bands members.

"A reincarnation of chicago's post rock instrumental group Volta Do Mar, oso is one part math-rock, two parts gypsy jazz, and one part tirbal chants. The last time I saw them, guitarist Phil Taylor simultaneously sang and shredded his acoustic axe whilst riding a unicycle. The Santa Barbara pack produces undeniably explosive rock with hyperactive fingers blasting technical riffs over furiously primal drums; songs often race to a climatic eruptions of aural chaos before smoothly melting into lushly orchestrated violin driven conclusions. It's absolutely impossible to stand still during their set; every chord and crash and beat and yelp is another jolt of sonic lightning tht pumps the adrenaline into the audience." - brian echon, santa cruz good times weekly.

DOOMTREEWebsite Listen
Doomtree is a record label. Doomtree is a rap crew. Doomtree is a family. Over the past five years Doomtree has become one of the most highly regarded hip-hop collectives in the Midwest, thanks to our innovative recordings, explosive live shows, and tireless work ethic. By combining the blueprint of hip hop with the DIY ethos of punk and a slew of disparate artistic and musical influences, Doomtree has won the favor of a broad range of audiences. We are as likely to find fans at indie rock shows as we are at rap shows or basement dance parties. In the past several years the collective has grown to include the lyrical and production talents of more than a dozen core members. The members of Doomtree come from a wide variety of backgrounds and musical interests, but join together to create some of the most forward-thinking beats and rhymes this side of 1987.

JEFFREE STARWhat began as an exercise in self delusion fulfilled itself in the biggest self made personality the world has ever seen, ladies and gentlemen, greater than life itself, bigger than a house and able to jump teams of single men in leaps and bounds, the cunt and queen of the internet, THIS is MISS JEFFREE STAR! Half super bitch and half mega cunt. He is a self admitted boyfriend thief and makeup addict, he is a photo junkie and designer clothes slut, he is brazenly sexual and openly subversive; he has become a role model for the new post 911 America.
ARTIST VS. POET Website
Artist Vs. Poet is for people that appreciate music and the desire to do something a little different. No one is naive enough to actually believe "we are unique, do our own thing, have no influences, and are creating something that will live for the next one hundred years." Although we are not an exact carbon copy of these kinds of bands, we admit their influence in our lives and in our music. We wont write the same songs they have written, but we will write fun music that you will enjoy. We are Artist Vs. Poet and we hope you are ready for something a little similar and a little different. Our goal is to create music that you can sing along to, enjoy, and most of all tell your friends about.

AUSHUA Website
"Ok, so I went to this show in the middle of some garage they call the Clinic not too long ago. And there I had the most orgasmic experience of music I've had in probably ever. All the bands were phenomenal, but there's this one called Aushua that I'm really stoked about. Someday soon their tickets will be worth a million dollars and 200,000 people will pay to see them live because they are incredible. In fact, aliens from other planets will probably pick up signals of their music and stop by earth for a night just to hear them. See them while they're still cheap. I just seriously want to sit inside their music and live there. Or go swimming in it until I get all pruny. Or I want to die from a spontaneous combustion caused by the sounds. If you don't listen to them, you will probably die." -anonymous 18 year old girl named Danielle

THE HONORARY TITLEWebsite
The Honorary Title is Jarrod Gorbel and Aaron Kamstra. Gorbel bares his soul using his soaring voice and intricately worded narrative, while multi-instrumentalist Aaron Kamstra augments the melodies using an assortment of synths, organ and piano parts. Drawing on an eclectic range of influences that includes Elvis Costello, Bright Eyes and Jeff Buckley, The Honorary Title combines raw emotion with pop hooks and remarkably poetic lyrics to write songs that defy simple genre classifications.
GOOD OLD WAR Website
Seldom do band members rebound gracefully after their main musical effort falls apart, but Keith Goodwin (vocals/guitar) and Tim Arnold (drums/vocals), members of the pop/progressive rock band Days Away have managed to do just that, pulling a 180 with their sound to a great degree of success in their new acoustic folk project Good Old War. Rounding out the trio is Dan Schwartz (guitar/vocals) from the Americana tinged 6 piece band, Unlikely Cowboy.
Unlike the recent trend among indie rock artists who have visited the country/folk genre, Good Old War makes no attempt to assimilate its music for the sake of novelty. There's no fake twang in Keith Goodwin's soft vocals, nor does the band try to overindulge itself by adding sounds by the harmonica or mandolin just for the sake of having them. Instead, this trio from Pennsylvania retains the intimate storytelling nature of folk-song structure, playing music for those who desire an emotive, lyrical experience without having to wade through pretentious or unnecessary musical gimmicks to get it. Their debut full length Only Way To Be Alone came out on Nov 4th , 2008 on Sargent House
CORY BRANAN Branan's characters populate skating rinks and dive bars, work dead-end jobs and chase after dead-end girls. Working in the oft-mined territory of drinking and relationships, Branan keeps things fresh through his sincerity and perspective. He skips from the nostalgic "Skateland South" to the darkly possessive "Love Song 8" without missing a beat, equally at home with lighthearted ditties about girls and more serious meditations on relationships.

Providing punishing disjointed blast beats and spitting out non-time signatures, the once 'breakcore' categorized Surachai has been mending it's own path. Focusing purely on melting off faces, he heavily relies on modular synthesizers to provide a crushing tower of sound. He currently runs the infamous Trash_Audio blog and shade:red record label with Justin McGrath.
